About the  Torrens University

  • Torrens University is an Australian international private, for-profit university and vocational registered training organisation, with campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Blue Mountains, Australia, Auckland, New Zealand, and Suzhou, China. It began teaching in 2014 in its first campus in the Torrens Building in Adelaide city centre. As of 2021 the university has about 19,000 enrolled students.
    Torrens University Australia was ranked the 40th best university in Australia and 3,425 globally by UniRank as of 2019. It was ranked in CEO Magazine's 2022 Global MBA Rankings as number 27 globally for online MBA degrees in the world.Adelaide was the first location in the country, opening its first campus in the heritage-listed Torrens Building on Victoria Square/Tarndanyangga, in the CBD, in 2013. On 3 August 2015 the University opened a new campus just along the road in the old Menz Biscuits factory on Wakefield Street, and as of 2019 no longer lists Torrens Building as another campus.There is another campus in Adelaide on Pulteney Street. This campus is the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School hub in the centre of Adelaide’s CBD, exclusively focused on students studying a Master of International Hotel Management





Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    Speaking
    Students will be able to participate in short conversations, ask and answer questions, exchange ideas, tell a story or short description, provide personal information, give and follow simple directions, and express how they feel.

    Listening
    Students will be able to understand phrases and expressions relating to familiar topics, identify topics of discussion around them, and extract essential information from short recorded passages.

    Reading
    Students will be able to understand short and simple texts, identify specific information in simple written material, understand basic types of standard routine letters and emails, and locate specific information in lists and isolate the information required.

    Writing
    The focus for students will be to write a series of simple phrases and sentences linked with connectors and everyday matters. Students will be able to start writing personal letters or emails, and basic descriptions of events, past activities and personal experience.
