About the  ILCF

  • French Language and Culture Institute (ILCF). The Institute has specialized in teaching French to non-native speakers since 1948. It belongs to the Literature and Languages Department of the Catholic University of Lyon. Being a part of a much larger university provides those enrolled in our Institute with a student status, a university setting and many opportunities for a quality education.
    The ILCF is very experienced in welcoming foreign students and has the advantage of being located in the heart of the historical center of Lyon which is classified a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.     These courses are for international students, adults, technicians, researchers... of all levels in French language

    Benefit, Goad of this course :
    to obtain and develop oral and written abilities in French
    to prepare for the DELF and the DALF exams.

    Curriculum :
    This intensive program is composed of 16 hours per week. Courses take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in the morning or in the afternoon. Workshops take place in the evenings and on Wednesdays. The ILCF Lyon welcomes students of all levels: A1: Breakthrough  A2: Elementary  B1: Threshold  B2: Vantage  C1: Operational  C2: Mastery. We organize a mandatory test to evaluate your written and oral proficiency in French so that we can place you in the appropriate level group.

    We organize a mandatory test to evaluate your written and oral proficiency in French so that we can place you in the appropriate level group.
    Courses are created to help develop oral and written expression and comprehension abilities. The goal is an effective autonomy in using French by learning grammar, vocabulary and French culture. Diverse language activities are offered including exercise workbooks, exercise books and original documents (press, advertising, comics, literature, videos, etc.). Integrative excursions allow students to get to know the City of Lyon (markets, train stations, cafes, librairies and neighborhood visits, francophone week). Courses require the active participation of students. Organization This intensive program is composed of 20 hours per week. Courses take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in the morning or in the afternoon. Workshops take place in the evenings and on Wednesdays.

    3)      Accommodation with a French family (subject to availability)
    Most of our families live in the nice suburb of Lyon. It never takes more than 40 minutes to go to ILCF by public transport.
    This option includes
    -Individual room
    -shared bathroom with the family
    -half-board during the week and full board at week-ends (rate : 680€) or half-board during the week (650€)
    -Processing fees : 60€
    -the full stay has to be paid in advance.
    We usually recommend to stay with families for one semester. Then, students can extend their stay or change accommodation.

Surrounding Area

  • The city of Lyon is a cultural center. You can go to the Opera and to the National Orchestra of Lyon, or to the National Conservatory of Music and the «Théâtre National Populaire». Sciences are also well represented in Lyon because the city has many international research centers for rare diseases (laboratoire P4) and research centers for cancer (le Centre Léon Bérard). As far as industry is concerned, chemistry takes an important role at the French Institute of Petrol and at Rhône Poulenc. Lyon is also the European headquarters of Interpol and Euronews (an informational TV channel broadcasted in every European language). In choosing Lyon, you have the possibility to study at the Catholic University, in one of the three Universities or in a «Grande Ecole» (for example the School of Architecture, the National school of Construction, the School of Management of Lyon and the School of Theatre). History of Lyon, from Lugdunum to today Lyon was once called Lugdunum and was the Roman capital of Three Gauls. It was also a major European crossroads and capital of printing during the sixteenth century. Moreover, Lyon is the capital of silk and represented the end of the silk road from China. Many famous people were born in Lyon including André Marie Ampère (discoverer of electromagnetism), the Lumière brothers (inventors of cinema) and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (aviator and author of the Petit Prince). Lyon has been the center of many great historical events. The work of the canuts (silk weavers) made Lyon an important city during the Industrial Revolution. During World War II, the Prefect Jean Moulin made Lyon the center of the Resistance movement. Lyon is also the capital of gastronomy. Beaujolais wine is made in the nearby countryside. It is served often with Lyon sausage or a plate of delicious quenelles.

Getting to the school from the airport

  • ILCF Lyon is located downtown and can be reached by subway (Bellecour, lines A and D) or by tramway «Rhôneexpress» from the International Airport Lyon Saint-Exupéry. From Part-Dieu Railway Station : take subway line B direction «Gare d’Oullins». Then take line D at «Saxe-Gambetta» direction «Gare de Vaise» and exit at the «Bellecour « stop. From Perrache Railway Station: take subway line A direction «Vaulx-en-Velin - Laurent Bonnevay» then exit two stops after, at the «Bellecour» stop.

大輔

リヨンカトリック大学に半年留学しました。リヨンはフランス第2の都市と呼ばれるほど大きな都市で、町並みも綺麗です。

交通の便もよく、不自由なことはありませんでした。
最初は慣れない生活のせいか疲れてしまいましたが、クラスメートとも仲良くなり、一緒によくフランス観光に行きました。
授業は人数が多かったのが残念ですが、授業の質が高くて満足しています。
日本人もクラスに5人くらいいたのですが、日本語で話していると先生に注意されるので、フランス語を話す練習が沢山できました。
授業中は辞書を使わないように言われ、授業についていくのに必死でしたが、
毎日宿題をやって復習していくと次第にフランス語に慣れて、授業もよく理解することができました。
留学する前にもフランス語の勉強はしていたのですが、やはり現地で勉強すると全然違うと実感しました。
フランス語しか話さない環境に身をおくことで自分の成長につなげられたと思います。

夏に留学しました＾＾

学校は大学のキャンパスの中にあります。
そのため、お昼は学食などを利用出来ます。
レベルが上がると選択授業が出来て、大学準備授業とかも受講出来たので
最初はいくつもりなかったのですが、受けてみたら大学もいきたいなと思ってしまいました。
でも年も年なので、ただ雰囲気だけ味わいました。
スピーキングやライティングなどの選択授業もあるので、
自分が強化したいものを選べて良かったと思います。
リヨンという町は住んでいても飽きないほど綺麗で、観光するところもあり、
楽しかったです。
ホームステイでお世話になった家族で年の近い方がいらっしゃったので
休日に一緒に出かけたりもしてとても楽しかったです。
ありがとうございました。

謝心怡

我在里昂天主教大學學習了半年。里昂是一座足以被稱為法國第二大城市的城市，城市景觀也很美。
交通便利，沒有不便。
起初我厭倦了對自己的生活不熟悉，但我和同學成了朋友，一起去法國觀光。
對不起，課程數量很大，但我很滿意課程的質量很高。
在課堂上大約有5個日本人，但是老師告訴我，我說的是日語，我有很多講法語的練習。
我被告知不要在課堂上使用字典，不顧一切地跟著上課，
每天做完作業並複習後逐漸習慣了法語並很好地理解了這一課。
雖然我在國外學習之前就讀法語，但實際上我覺得在外地學習時它完全不同。
我相信我能夠通過生活在只說法語的環境中來引領我的成長。
