  • University Canada West (UCW) is a private, for-profit, university in British Columbia, Canada. It was founded in 2005 by David F. Strong, the former president of the University of Victoria. UCW was purchased in 2008 by the Eminata Group and in 2014 sold to Global University Systems, its present owners. Based in downtown Vancouver, the university offers undergraduate and post-graduate programs in business and management.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    If you have not met the minimum English language requirements for the Bachelor or MBA program entry, you can still improve your English skills and qualify for your degree at University Canada West.

    The University Access Program (UAP) accredited by Languages Canada covers everything you need for higher level education in an English-speaking institution. The program focuses on Academic English, ensuring that you will be able to study, and complete assignments and examinations with confidence.

    UAP will also cover specific academic skills, such as essay writing, research methods, note taking, critical thinking and seminar or tutorial discussion, giving you a great start to your program at University Canada West.


    Curriculum :
    - Structuring of paragraphs, introductions and conclusions
    - Writing using a variety of extended essay genres
    - Paraphrasing and summarizing, whilst avoiding plagiarism
    - Coherently synthesizing the ideas of other academics with your ownReferencing styles and rules (such as Harvard and APA)
    - Sourcing, scanning, and selecting materials         
    - Critically evaluating sources        
    - Effective note-taking from lectures, and utilizing information
    - Expressing yourself clearly and confidently in tutorials and seminars

  • You can meet the English proficiency requirements for admission to our degree programs by successfully completing the advanced level of The University Access Program (UAC 030). Programs range from three (3), six (6) and nine
    (9) months in length.

    - Academic IELTS – 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in the writing band or equivalent for UAC 030 Academic English Preparation (Advanced)
    - Academic IELTS – 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in the writing band or equivalent for UAC 020 Academic English Preparation (Upper Intermediate)

    Preparation for MBA

    Benefit, Goal of this course :
    If you have an undergraduate CGPA between C+ (2.33) and B- (2.99) and have one of the additional requirements or if you meet the academic CGPA of 3.0 but do not have any of the additional requirements, you may be offered the option of completing a set of four MBA Foundation courses that can be taken in one term, to prepare you for the MBA program. To continue into the MBA program, you must earn a grade of B (GPA of 3.0) or better on each 
    Foundation course.

    Curriculum :
    The MBA Foundation includes courses in the following areas:
    - Business and Academic Writing
    - Quantitative Reasoning and Analysis
    - Business Fundamentals
    - Economics from a Business Perspective

    This program is accredited by ACBSP. You will take the most challenging situations in your stride, apply pragmatic solutions to problems you encounter and ultimately drive the success of an organization with your informed decision-making.

    We collaborate with digital leaders such as Salesforce (Trailhead), Tableau and IBM to add relevant digital components to our courses (see course structure below). This aligns with our digital vision and keep you updated with upcoming technological trends.

Surrounding Area

  • The campus will be situated beneath the Granville Street Bridge, near the elegant Spinning Chandelier, a major public art installation by renowned artist Rodney Graham. It will be located in the Beach District and will be steps from Granville Island, Sunset Beach, English Bay and Vancouver’s 28-kilometre Seawall, the world’s longest uninterrupted waterfront path.

    The state-of-the-art campus will be part of an amenities-rich cultural magnet for the city. Students will be within proximity to a range of shops, restaurants and fitness facilities.

    UCW is excited to be welcoming students to the new campus in July 2020.

    UCW is located within Vancouver’s business district. Many of the world’s biggest companies have offices within walking distance of our downtown campus, providing students with unparalleled access to a network of prospective employers.


Facilities

  • University Canada West (UCW) has two easily accessible campuses in downtown Vancouver: 626 West Pender St. in the historic London Building and Vancouver House (opening in July 2020).

    Our campus at 626 Pender St. currently occupies the first five floors of the heritage-designated structure and is located only steps away from public transit, including the Waterfront SkyTrain Station, bus routes and the SeaBus terminal. The vibrant and lively neighbourhood is full of restaurants, stores, entertainment options, shopping centres and gym facilities.

    Our new campus, Vancouver House, is located in one of the highest profile developments in Vancouver’s recent history.  The campus will include more than 90,000 sq. ft. in the iconic Vancouver House Development, a globally recognized project designed by architect Bjarke Ingels of BIG.
