  • Since its establishment in 1965, Language Studies International has been providing international students with a place to exchange culture and learn new language. Believing that true linguistic enhancement comes when students are wholly immersed in the culture and language, LSI aims to provide the best accommodation suitable for English learning as well as an appropriate academic environment. LSI also understands that international students have different motives and reasons for their pursuit of new language and thus provides courses for all academic, professional and personal aims. With extensively trained instructors and professional academic counselors who have abundant experiences with foreign students, LSI constantly reviews the latest trend and methodology in the field.  Accredited by AAIEP, LSI boasts an international atmosphere, learner-centered classes, quality homestay programs, certified teachers, dynamic class lessons and a certificate as a proof of students' language competence. LSI offers several challenging courses that promise students with significantly noticeable growth in their English skills. Courses provide the same lessons in different levels in order to meet each student's needs. As courses divided into 6 levels, ranging from beginner to advanced, students will be placed in the most suitable level and thus be provided with instructions and lessons apt for their English proficiency. LSI does not settle with its current establishment. Rather, the institution continuously takes part in international research and seminars in order to provide students with the most effective method and environment to learn English in.

Conditional admission

  • LSI's academic team provides students assistance when going through the application process for transfers. The staff will check language requirements and required documents with the students in order for them to be well prepared. Furthermore, school counselors will come up with a study plan for individual students and monitor each student's progress in order to meet different universities' needs. In the past, students at LSI schools have been granted conditional admission from their chosen university or college. Many of these schools are LSI's partner schools in the States or Canada who are ensured that students who have completed LSI programs have attained competent English skills. LSI's University Preparation Programme is specifically designed to guide students along their application process and increase their acceptance rate.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study : 
    the General English Program is ideal for students wanting to experience both classroom lessons and student activities. During the lessons, students will be given ample opportunities to practice and improve their conversational English skills.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    the General English Program does not take more than 15 student per class. This is to set an ideal studying environment for students. Students will thus be given more chances to speak with their native instructors. During the 2 lessons given each day, students will cover reading, writing, speaking and listening. Additional studying materials other than textbooks such as magazines, discussions, newspapers and role-plays will be applied in order to enrich students' learning experiences.

    Curriculum :  This course provides 20 lessons per week, 4 lessons per day. Same program is offered in six different levels. Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced are the levels that break down students' English proficiency. Upon their arrival, students will be given an Entrance Exam in order to be placed in an appropriate academic level. Courses are provided for as short as 1 week to 50 weeks. Students must be at least 16 years of age in order to enroll in this course.

This cultural, and educational centre of the East Coast features attractions such as the Freedom Trail and Quincy Marketplace. Boston Public Garden, Newbury Street, Harvard Square and Fenway Park are just a few of the other famous sites you’ll find in this beautiful and historic city. Our school in Boston is situated in a commercial brownstone building on the borders of Chinatown and the Theatre and Financial Districts. The course combines English tuition with fun activities and excursions enjoying all that the Boston area has to offer.

  • LSI offers is its unique homestay program. With experienced, welcoming host families, students will find the greatest opportunity to enhance their English skills and experience the local culture. All students will be given a single room but students will choose between the bed and breakfast option and half-board option. Minimum age for homestay program is 16. The other option is off-campus housing for students who prefer more independence and privacy. ESL Townhouse is located about 20 minutes drive away from LSI-Boston center. Students can choose between single or shared rooms in an apartment complex with TV, telephone and internet. International Guest House is also available as an off-campus housing option. It is located in the heart of Back Bay area of Boston, only 20-minute walk away from the LSI campus. Rooms as well as kitchen and TV will be shared by 2 to 4 people. Private bathrooms will be provided.

Surrounding Area

  • LSI Boston is located on the borders of Boston's China Town and Financial District. Since it is in the downtown area, convenient transportation system is offered to students. Students can easily access the subway and commuter train stations. As the Charles River and Boston Harbour are also close to the campus, LSI Boston Center combines America's historical heritage with modern outlook, creating a unique, enriched city for international students to study in.

高采寧

課程主要是跟口語有關，畢竟我們在學校所學的英文能力能藉此發揮，才能習慣成自然，我是這樣想的。課堂第一天，老師與班上學生討論有興趣的議題與所期待能在這門課中獲得什麼，選擇自己所感興趣的，然後盡情參與其中。

有趣的是，一個班級就如同文化的大熔爐，觀點與文化的不同常會互相腦力激盪而後產生獨特的見解，比如說，某次上課主題為社群網站，討論過程中，可以了解到不同國情文化使用社群網絡的現象與特色。
不同於我們對於上課的刻板肅穆氛圍，課堂中取而代之的是如同歡樂的宴會氣氛，每位同學皆踴躍的表達自己的看法，同時也尊重他人的不同見地，若討論到敏感議題時例如政治，如何有風度地接受別人的看法，並且機智給予回應，是我在這個月當中所學到的寶貴經驗，不僅止於課堂討論，同學之間相處也是不吝給予指點，並當下指出你的錯誤迅速解決問題，避免問題隨著時間擴大與複雜化，這也是令我印象最深刻的。如何有技巧的不讓對方感到不舒服與保持組內的和諧，在這短短的一個月當中，我確實學到不少。
