Course Information

  • Focus of Study and Benefit:
    In ESL standard program, students will train for improvement of their English under experienced, full time faculty with degrees in ESL or lingustics. In a small classroom settings, students will interact freely with other classmates and instructors to practice their English. The holistic, pedagogically sound, approach to English instruction gives opportunities for students to develop critical analytical skills and gain English knowledge.

    Curriculum :
    For those students who wish to accelerate their English education, Standard English Program is the perfect choice.  Made up of 6 levels, the program primarily focuses on TOEFL prep, English Conversation, and English Listening Conversation. The elective courses students can chose from includes Pronounciation, Telephone English Business& Daily Life, Topical English, Situational English, Essay Writing, Newspaper& Magazine, Speaking Hihgly Advanced, Business English, and more. The choice of elective courses may vary for each level. Each class has average of 10 to 15 students.

    Classroom Hour : as much as 20 hours per week depending on elective course, Monday to Friday. Specific class schedule may vary for each level.

Students can obtain further information about housing from this website, or they can contact our LASC admission's office.

課程主要是跟口語有關，畢竟我們在學校所學的英文能力能藉此發揮，才能習慣成自然，我是這樣想的。課堂第一天，老師與班上學生討論有興趣的議題與所期待能在這門課中獲得什麼，選擇自己所感興趣的，然後盡情參與其中。

有趣的是，一個班級就如同文化的大熔爐，觀點與文化的不同常會互相腦力激盪而後產生獨特的見解，比如說，某次上課主題為社群網站，討論過程中，可以了解到不同國情文化使用社群網絡的現象與特色。
不同於我們對於上課的刻板肅穆氛圍，課堂中取而代之的是如同歡樂的宴會氣氛，每位同學皆踴躍的表達自己的看法，同時也尊重他人的不同見地，若討論到敏感議題時例如政治，如何有風度地接受別人的看法，並且機智給予回應，是我在這個月當中所學到的寶貴經驗，不僅止於課堂討論，同學之間相處也是不吝給予指點，並當下指出你的錯誤迅速解決問題，避免問題隨著時間擴大與複雜化，這也是令我印象最深刻的。如何有技巧的不讓對方感到不舒服與保持組內的和諧，在這短短的一個月當中，我確實學到不少。
