  • Pine Manor College (PMC) is a small, private four-year liberal arts college preparing students to become effective leaders in their professions and in their communities. Pine Manor College is a women-centered college in the Boston area that awards the Bachelor of Arts degree to women. Associate and graduate degrees, continuing education, and summer school programs are offered to both women and men. PMC was founded in 1911 by Helen Temple Cooke, originally as a post-secondary division of Dana Hall School for girls in Wellesley, Massachusetts. It was chartered in 1930 as an independent junior college and authorized in 1959 to confer Associate's degrees. The College moved to its present campus in 1965. Pine Manor has awarded Bachelor's degrees to women since 1977. Beginning in 2005 men and women could earn the Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing. Since 2011, both men and women may earn an Associate degree.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    The Semi-intensive English Program is of the same high academic standard as all our courses. This program is especially designed for students visiting during the period (June to August) who wish to have additional free time for activities and excursions. The mission of the Semi-Intensive Program is to assist non-native English learners in acquiring the knowledge and language skills necessary to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. The program provides a supportive learning environment that promotes intercultural understanding.

    Curriculum :
    Pine Manor College's SIEP offers semi-intensive, academic-based English language classes for International students, Adults and professions, and international visitors. The course has 24 lessons per week. From placement test, students will be placed in levels from Beginner to Advanced level. Class has average of 10 students, and maximum of 15. Students can choose to take the program with duration of 4 to 50 weeks of their choosing. Twenty four lessons per weak put emphasis on Grammar, Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking at the appropriate level.

The number and types of electives offered depends on enrollment.

Accommodation

  • English Language Institute students are accommodated in comfortable residential housing (dormitories or "dorm"). Each dorm is supervised by a Resident Assistant who is available to help students. The dorms are just a short walk to all of the facilities and services on campus. The residence consist of two floors. Each floor consist of 8 bedroom and 2 bathrooms. Study bedrooms are comfortable and centrally heated. Towels and bed linens are provided free of charge and are exchanged weekly. Student lounges with television, video player, a public telephone and a laundry room are available.

高采寧

學校老師其實沒有統一的教學方式,取決於各個老師的教學習慣 ,有的老師會讓每個學生都有平均發問與作答的機會,學生勇於多講一點就多點練習機會.然後像我遇到老師會玩文法或單字遊戲,藉由比賽競爭,讓班上學生各個摩拳擦掌增添學習語言的樂趣。

學校有一個開放公共空間,通常是中午吃飯、看電影和頒獎等活動舉辦時的同學聚集

我很喜歡這些公共空間,趁著短短十分鐘的下課時間,除了在教室內跟同班同學閒聊外,也可在走廊這些公共空間認識新朋友.
一樓是老師休息室與櫃檯詢問處,有任何問題或活動資訊都可從此得知,或純粹想練習英文聊天也可以~
二樓有固定時間開放的電腦教室可搜尋資料與影印,一樓也有一台電腦與電話可供學生緊急使用學校給予的日常資源很充足,其實不用太擔心。

整體而言是環境非常棒的學習環境。
