Program Description & Levels
Students who enter the Intensive English Program semester enroll in the 8- or 16 Week English program. The program curriculum includes two courses levels: upper and lower.
Courses are designed to combine English instruction with orientation-type activities that support students’ integration into the university. During the program, students will take*:
6 hours of Reading and Writing
6 hours of Speaking and Listening
4 hours of Special Academic Topics (SAT)
2–4 hours of Student Signature Experience
Total Weekly Program Hours = 18–20

In each level of the program, students will take two English proficiency courses. These courses build students’ language proficiency and orient them to U.S. university study.
Reading and Writing has an emphasis on academic reading and writing skills.Speaking and Listening provides the skills to be successful in and out of the classroom.Special Academic Topics (SAT) courses focus on a particular language skill or content area.Student Signature Experience involves a visit to a university or local cultural, academic or historical event or site.
