Location

Accommodation

  • Homestay:

Australia is a very multicultural society. Your Homestay host(s) may come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and may not have a ‘traditional’ family structure with a mother, father and two children.
In Homestay accommodation, students have their own bedroom and the bathroom(s). Students are treated as a member of the family, and are encouraged to participate in daily life and activities within the family.

    On-Campus: 3 locations

    - Christ College offers a stimulating and supportive collegiate experience. It is the oldest tertiary foundation in Australia, dating back to 1846. Christ College has recently been refurbished to provide state-of-the-art student accommodation and facilities.
    - John Fisher College combines a stimulating and supportive collegiate lifestyle with academic support and pastoral care. John Fisher has recently been refurbished and provides state-of-the-art student accommodation and facilities.

Many rooms have a great view of the Derwent River, Hobart city and/or surrounding hills.

    - The University Apartments offer a stimulating and supportive collegiate experience with academic and pastoral care amidst a creative and vital community.

Situated at the top of College Road in Sandy Bay, the apartments sit amidst natural bush providing habitat for native fauna, including the endangered Tasmania swift parrot, which frequents the native blue gum trees. The apartments have sweeping views of the Derwent River, the city of Hobart, Sandy Bay and Tasman Bridge, with Hobart's Mount Wellington as an impressive backdrop. The apartments are self-contained, and accommodate 6 people.

There are 29 apartments located on the Sandy Bay campus:

Surrounding Area

  • Tasmania is the perfect place to live and study - a peaceful, scenic state that's big enough to support vibrant cities and thriving opportunities for study and work, but small enough to be friendly, and offer a high quality lifestyle. It has also made the Lonely Planet's top ten list of must-visit destinations for 2015.

Tasmania is roughly the same size as Sri Lanka or Ireland and has a population of half a million people.

Tasmania's two major cities are the state's capital, Hobart, in the south east, and Launceston in the north. The cities are an easy two-hour drive apart.
