GIA Hong Kong’s laboratory issues reports and provides laboratory services in diamond grading and gem identification. With objectivity and expertise as its hallmarks, GIA ensures the integrity and accuracy of every report it issues. GIA’s presence in Hong Kong began in the 1970s, with regular one-week extension classes. The Hong Kong Alumni Chapter was formed in 1984, and by the early 1990s Hong Kong was the center of Asia’s jewelry and diamond industry both geographically and economically. In 1994, the Hong Kong school officially opened and grew to 200 students within the first two years. GIA further expanded its presence in Hong Kong in 2010 with the addition of a new laboratory location, initially offering services for D-to-Z diamonds, and eventually expanding to services for colored diamonds, colored stones and pearls.
