Course information

  • This workplace readiness program is designed for international students seeking training in and knowledge of transferable soft skills for the international or Canadian workplace. Students gain the essential industry knowledge and skills in customer service, hospitality, and tourism to allow them to be successful in entry to intermediate level positions in a broad range of related employment settings; for example, hotels, motels, resorts, restaurants, convention centres and on cruise ships.

    Program Outcomes
    By taking the Hospitality and Tourism Program you will acquire and be able to apply the essential skills and knowledge related to:

    1. Canada; National Culture and Cross-Cultural Communication, including: Skills working with different cultures, establishing first impressions, skills related to service industry standards.

    2. Customer Service, Sales, and Marketing, including: Public speaking skills, problem-solving skills, applying marketing techniques.

    3. Travel, Tourism, and Adaption, including: Taking orders, planning for meetings, handling special needs, writing effective communication.

    4. Managing Events, Attractions, and eTravel, including: Research skills, organizing events, delivering presentations, time management skills.

Course information

  • Every business needs a website and eventually, every website needs a redesign so demand is high for good web developers. In this program, you will learn how to design and code interactive client-facing websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. By the end of the program, you will be able to build dynamic websites using a content management system, produce and consume web APIs, and write efficient code demonstrating knowledge of programming concepts. This program will prepare you to work as a Front-end Developer and in any general web developer position.

    Access to PC/MAC:
    We recommend that students in the Web Developer Professional program have a MAC notebook or Windows PC.

  • Campus Features
    The University of Toronto Mississauga campus is located approximately 33 km west of Downtown Toronto and set upon the valley of the Credit River across a large, treed lot. It is the second-largest of the three University of Toronto campuses. In 2017 the U of T Mississauga proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary.A themed campus tour is offered, which encourages to develop teambuilding, leadership, or STEAM skills.

    Student Fitness
    Campus recreation facilities include a North and South field for all athletics activities.

    Campus Eats
    All meals are served at UTM cafeteria located inside the residence. Residential campers will receive 3 hot meals a day (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). Meals include 1 main, 2 sides, dessert and a drink (ex. Chicken, fries, salad, cookie and juice). Self-arranged campers will receive only lunch. Lunch box meal and restaurant dinner provided to all campers on full day excursions.
