Our school was founded in 1996 by Lesley Bogue and has grown steadily since then. In 2009 the school was taken over by the Sprachenzentrum Wöhler e.K., a German-based language school. We renamed the school English Encounters in 2010 and relocated to downtown Burlington in April 2010. Our mission is simple: to provide high-quality English lessons to anyone who wants to learn English can achieve their goals of speaking fluently with confidence.We at English Encounters are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality education. All our teachers are certified ESL professionals with lots of experience. They all have a university degree and a special certificate to teach English. In addition, they are chosen for their personalities as well as we believe that friendly, enthusiastic and patient teachers are essential! They want your stay to be happy and educationally rewarding while you Learn English in Canada.

Homestay

Learn English faster with an English-speaking homestay family and create lifelong memories and connections by staying with one of our host families. For our homestay program we have partnered with Canada Homestay Network. You will have a comfortable single room or a double room if you prefer. Many of our homes are within walking distance from the school. You will live as one of the family and there are different meal plans available to chose from.

We organize an optional social program for our students with movie nights, games nights, karaoke at the local pub – 19+, picnics, sailing, barbecues, trips to the Niagara, Toronto and other places of interest. Our students socialize together with activities such as lunches, movie nights, bowling, karaoke, visiting local pubs and discos (19+), going to the nearby beach or the park, and going by train to enjoy the many sights and activities in Toronto . There is a YMCA and other fitness centres in the area where you can exercise or swim, not to mention the beach and countless walking and biking trails throughout the city. In winter we have ice skating and ski excursions can be arranged.
