  • Delia School of Canada is dedicated to the pursuit of educational excellence in guiding students as they prepare to become citizens in a global community.     DSC is pleased to tell you that there are 48 countries represented in the student population of Delia School of Canada and the total student population has surpassed the 13th hundred mark. It is the international student body at Delia School of Canada that provides an opportunity for learning, not only about traditional academics but also about the values and traditions of cultures from all over the world. 


    A few examples of the initiatives for 2018-2019 include the introduction of additional support staff to focus on inclusivity and student success, a new program in Taikoo Shing that is dedicated to fostering creativity, problem-solving and inquiry-based learning, and the development of a new campus in Kowloon East. 


    With these and many more exciting activities and programs being planned the 2018-2019 school year promises to be full of excitement, learning, and collaboration.


    Delia School of Canada’s Alberta Program provides a caring and inclusive atmosphere that is designed to provide meaningful learning experiences, promote equal opportunities and embrace learner differences in all students through specifically designed instructional supports.  Student well-being and personal growth are key elements of the curriculum.


    In an increasingly global and interconnected world, international education helps students build a global outlook and acquire international and intercultural knowledge, skills and awareness.     Benefit, Goal of this course :

    Alberta students are among the highest achievers in the world. They have consistently performed in the top ranks in national and international studies that assess reading, mathematics and science skills, including in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2015.

    This success begins with at the Elementary school level where a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy is established. This allows students to construct and communicate the meaning of what they learn. This strong foundation allows students to develop 21st century skills that help them contribute knowledge and to think critically about the world around them.  The elementary program prepares students for the challenges that lie ahead in the Junior and Senior High School.


    Curriculum :
    Students in Grades 1 - 6 receive a minimum of 950 hours of instructional each year.  Student learning within the Alberta Program is based on principles of inclusivity where students are encouraged to be engaged critical thinkers and ethical citizens all within an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Applications may be submitted to the Main Office in person, by post, by fax or by email.  Faxed and emailed documents will be accepted but originals or clear photographs must be presented prior to the interview.  School Tours are available in the following languages: English, Putonghua, Cantonese, Japanese, Hindi, Punjabi and French.

    The admissions process cannot be finalized until the family shows the admission staff the students Permanent HKID card, passport with a valid visa stamp, or a Hong Kong birth certificate with “established” status for verification. Conditional enrollment may be granted pending visa applications. 

    Application Procedure- Please note the Application Requirements:

    • One (1) completed 4-page application form
    • Payment of HK$1000.00 application fee (non-refundable) payable by cash, EPS or cheque (not post-dated) payable to DELIA SCHOOL OF CANADA
    • One (1) passport-sized photograph of the student applicant
    • Bring parent’s or guardian’s Permanent HK ID card or passport with valid visa stamp for verification 
    • One (1) copy of report cards or official transcripts of the last two (2) grades completed (English translation required) 
    • Completed Student Reference Form (email directly to admissions@delia.edu.hk)
    • English Proficiency Test

    Prior to an interview and English proficiency test being scheduled, all required documents must be submitted to the Admissions Department. The documents will be reviewed by an Admission's Officer or the Head of Admissions before the interview takes place.  A parent/guardian and the student(s) are required to attend the interview. Families should arrive 15 minutes before the interview. The interview will be scheduled for 60 to 90 minutes.  During the interview, the following school-related items will be discussed:

    • school expectations: student and parent or guardian responsibilities
    • school documents: class timetable, school calendar, co-curricular activities, refundable textbook deposit, laptop program for students in Grades 4 - 9
    • verification status of the applicant as accepted, accepted to a waiting list, accepted on conditions, accepted as a Monitor student, or not accepted
    • the selection of International Language Program among the following choices: Japanese or Putonghua (Beginner/Near Native).
    • payment and refund policy information
    • result of the English Proficiency Test

    After the formal interview has been completed and acceptance has been confirmed, the Admissions Officer will present the family with the Acceptance Letter and fees invoice. The family will then have 7 days to complete the enrollment process. After 7 days the reserved seat in the class will be assigned to a new applicant.

  • Focus of Study :
    Our teachers are committed to creating stimulating learning environments that challenge students to critically analyze, interpret and communicate their understanding of course content and its implication and/or application. 

    Benefit, Goal of this course :

    Students are given more choice which allows them to match their optional courses to their passions and future educational plans. Optional courses available to Junior High students include:

    - International Languages (Putonghua, Japanese)

    - Art

    - Music
    - Drama
    - Film Studies
    - Design Thinking for Innovation
    - Leadership, Character and Social Responsibility.

    Curriculum :

    Students in Grades 10 to 12 must complete a minimum of 1000 hour of instruction each year. After successfully completing Grade 12 students receive the internationally recognized Alberta High School Diploma. 

    To achieve an Alberta High School Diploma students must obtain 100 credits between Grades 10 to 12.  With the support of the Academic Guidance Counsellor, students and parents design an individual pathway around the student’s future plans. This individual pathway is reviewed often and necessary changes are made. By focusing on areas of passion and interest, and guided by High School Academic Guidance Counsellor, students are prepared to attend top universities around the world.

    The 2015 results in science, reading and math from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) illustrate the quality of the Alberta education system. Alberta students ranked 1st in Canada and 2nd out of 72 countries or economies in the world in science and third in the world in reading.

Facilities

  • To support and enhance student learning, technology is integrated in the curriculum with the use of tools like LCD projection system, smartboards, ipads and a multi-media room and studio. 1-to-1 laptop ownership program is implemented in Grades 4-12. Two ICT Specialist teachers supports the integration of technology in the classroom. In addition subscriptions to online web-based resources, software and elibrary provides opportunities for students of all grades for e-learning within and outside the classroom.

Activity

  • Extracurricular activities are an important part of school life at Delia School of Canada. Students have the opportunity to join clubs and teams throughout the school year. A variety of clubs and teams are offered. These are supervised by members of the teaching staff and provide students with an opportunity to learn a new activity, make new friends, develop social and leadership skills while building a strong sense of community and school spirit. As a member of the International School Sports Federation of Hong Kong (ISSFHK) and the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation (HKSSF), Delia School of Canada has over 40 teams competing regionally in 12 different sports.
