  • Since its establishment in 1965, Language Studies International has been providing international students with a place to exchange culture and learn new language. Believing that true linguistic enhancement comes when students are wholly immersed in the culture and language, LSI aims to provide the best accommodation suitable for English learning as well as an appropriate academic environment. LSI also understands that international students have different motives and reasons for their pursuit of new language and thus provides courses for all academic, professional and personal aims. With extensively trained instructors and professional academic counselors who have abundant experiences with foreign students, LSI constantly reviews the latest trend and methodology in the field.  Accredited by AAIEP, LSI boasts an international atmosphere, learner-centered classes, quality homestay programs, certified teachers, dynamic class lessons and a certificate as a proof of students' language competence. LSI offers several challenging courses that promise students with significantly noticeable growth in their English skills. Courses provide the same lessons in different levels in order to meet each student's needs. As courses divided into 6 levels, ranging from beginner to advanced, students will be placed in the most suitable level and thus be provided with instructions and lessons apt for their English proficiency. LSI does not settle with its current establishment. Rather, the institution continuously takes part in international research and seminars in order to provide students with the most effective method and environment to learn English in.

Conditional admission

  • LSI's academic team provides students assistance when going through the application process for transfers. The staff will check language requirements and required documents with the students in order for them to be well prepared. Furthermore, school counselors will come up with a study plan for individual students and monitor each student's progress in order to meet different universities' needs. In the past, students at LSI schools have been granted conditional admission from their chosen university or college. Many of these schools are LSI's partner schools in the States or Canada who are ensured that students who have completed LSI programs have attained competent English skills. LSI's University Preparation Programme is specifically designed to guide students along their application process and increase their acceptance rate.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study : 
    the General English Program is ideal for students wanting to experience bothclassroom lessons and student activities. During the lessons, students will begiven ample opportunities to practice and improve their conversational Englishskills.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    theGeneral English Program does not take more than 15 student per class. This isto set an ideal studying environment for students. Students will thus be givenmore chances to speak with their native instructors. During the 2 lessons giveneach day, students will cover reading, writing, speaking and listening.Additional studying materials other than textbooks such as magazines,discussions, newspapers and role-plays will be applied in order to enrich students'learning experiences.

    Curriculum :  This course provides 20 lessons per week, 4 lessons per day.Same program is offered in six different levels. Beginner, Elementary,Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced are the levelsthat break down students' English proficiency. Upon their arrival, studentswill be given an Entrance Exam in order to be placed in an appropriate academiclevel. Courses are provided for as short as 1 week to 48 weeks. Students must beat least 16 years of age in order to enroll in thiscourse.

Course Information

    the Intensive English Program is ideal for students seeking quick improvement in English as well as classroom lessons combined with student activities. During the lessons, students will be given ample opportunities to practice and improve their conversational English skills.

    Classroom Hour :
    In the morning, students will be given same classroom lessons as the General English Program. On top of that, the Intensive English Program will continue further studies in the afternoon to build an intensified atmosphere and consolidate the morning lessons.

Course Information

  • The LSI San Francisco/Berkeley Courses for Juniors offers both a summer English camp and a winter English camp, both courses held at our language school in the heart of downtown Berkeley close to the University of California Berkeley campus and just a short stroll from the eclectic shops and cafes of Telegraph Avenue. Our English courses for kids and teenagers aged 12-17 combine English classes with summer camp activities and weekly excursions that encourage young learners to improve their English while having fun with new friends and enjoying all the famous attractions that Berkeley and San Francisco have to offer. Friendly and welcoming homestay families and teachers, as well as our school’s excellent student facilities, make LSI San Francisco/Berkeley a comfortable and safe environment for junior English students to study and enjoy themselves with one of our fun and varied programmes.

  • LSI offers is its unique homestay program. With experienced, welcoming host families, students will find the greatest opportunity to enhance their English skills and experience the local culture. All students will be given a single room but students will choose between the bed and breakfast option and half-board option. Minimum age for homestay program is 16. The other option is off-campus housing for students who prefer more independence and privacy. Borneo House is located only 10 minutes away from LSI Berkeley center. The house has 10 shared and single rooms with 3 shared bathrooms. Continental breakfast is provided during week days. Other facilities include free internet, weekly laundry services, and live-in house parents. Students can also stay at the downtown Berkeley YMCA Residence which is only 1 minute away from the LSI center. It offers single and double rooms with morning coffee, fitness facilities, internet and laundry facilities. the Hillside Durant Student Dorm is 20 minutes from LSI center with 12 double rooms. It provides a full kitchen, student lounge, and coin laundry machines. More short-term stay options like the Berkeley City Club, Rose Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Durant Hotel and Bancroft Hotel can be found on the school website with detailed information.

Surrounding Area

  • With Bay Area's public transportation (Bay Area Rapid Transit), students can take the initiative to explore the city themselves. Students can visit Union Square's art galleries and street shops. As for natural sites, Yosemite national park and other recreational sports are available.

  • LSI San Francisco/Berkeley center's facilities include a two-story building in downtown Berkeley, indoor and outdoor common areas, glass-covered atrium, free internet, student computer labs, kitchen and library.

Activity

  • Student activities organized by the school include visiting street shops, restaurants, cinemas, and bookshops. the world famous Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Wine Country, Monterey Peninsula and Alcatraz.

3月に高校を卒業してから、すぐに留学を始めました！
1年間、語学学校で勉強した後、アメリカの大学に進学を考えています。

私は中級レベルから始まったのである程度周りの学生と意思疎通が出来るので
授業中以外は、たくさん会話をして会話力をつけています。
講師の先生方も学生も、とてもフレンドリーだったので、最初は人見知りしていた私もすぐにクラスに馴染めました！

宿泊は、キャンパス外の学生寮に住んでいます。
学生寮とてもお薦めです！
綺麗ですし、なりより同じクラス以外の学生も住んでいるので
友達がたくさん出来ますし、学校終わりに一緒に宿題したり、ご飯にいったりなど
毎日楽しいです！そのおかげで会話力がだいぶ伸びた気がします！

三月份高中畢業後，我很快就開始出國留學了！
