Charleston is also the cultural, recreational and business capital of West Virginia, offering our students opportunities to enjoy recreational, entertainment and sports events, as well as meaningful internships.  Three large medical centers are located near the campus as well. Charleston offers much to see and do. The Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences has concerts, a planetarium, art gallery, exhibits and more. The West Virginia Power minor league baseball team offers sports fans a great evening out. Live on the Levee provides free concerts every Friday night during the summer at Haddad Riverfront Park.  At the Capitol Complex, you can tour the incredible Capitol Building, or step back into history at the History and Cultural Museum. And speaking of history, there are about fifty places in Charleston that are included on the National Register of Historic Places, providing some unique architecture throughout the area. There are movie theaters, unique shops, coffee shops and bakeries within easy access of the UC campus.  And if you’re hungry for something different, along with many homestyle dining restaurants, there are locally owned Italian, Korean, Mediterranean, Indian, Vietnamese, Mexican and Chinese eateries close by. West Virginia offer some of the best skiing and whitewater rafting in the country. And several areas nearby offer natural places to hike, bike and camp.
