Course information

  • NEW ZEALAND CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH & WELLBEING
    120 credits/ 40 weeks/ 20 hrs per week 09:00-14:30 Mon-Thu

    This programme consists of 5 compulsory modules and 4 elective modules per strand which embeds 200 hours of workplace experience.  Graduates of this programme will be able to: Engage and communicate with tangata, family and/or whanau accessing social and community services in a manner which respects their socio-cultural identity, experiences and self-knowledge, apply knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to honour the history and context of Maori as tangata whenua and apply knowledge of person-whanau interconnectedness to own role in a health and wellbeing setting, demonstrate self-awareness, reflective practice, personal leadership and self-care in a health and wellbeing setting, actively contribute to a culture of professionalism, safety and quality in a health and wellbeing organisation, use knowledge of the aims and purpose(s) of the wider health and wellbeing sectors to reflect on their impact on own role. 

    Graduates of the Disability Support strand will also be able to apply disability tools and strategies when working alongside tangata, family and/or whanau to support autonomy, identify goals and opportunities to overcome challenges to enable good lives.

     Graduates of the Mental Health and Addiction Support strand will also be able to apply mental health and/or addiction tools and strategies when working alongside tangata, family and/or whanau to support autonomy, foster hope, and develop resilience.

    -IELTS (Academic or General) 5.5 with no band lower than 5.0 (or NZQA approved equivalent)
    -3 years of secondary school education or agreed equivalent
    -Have recent police vetting

Surrounding Area

  • Auckland lies between the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the low Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges and smaller ranges to the west and north-west. The central part of the urban area occupies a narrow isthmus between the Manukau Harbour on the Tasman Sea and the Waitemata Harbour on the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the few cities in the world to have harbours on two separate major bodies of water.

Activity


  • (1) Afternoon activity course: If you enrol on an Intensive EnglishPLUS course you can choose the Activities afternoon option. This course has activities each afternoon (Monday-Thursday) from 1.15 – 3.30 pm.
    (2) After-school activities: There are usually activities on Monday-Thursday, after classes finish for the day at 3.30 pm. 
    (3) Friday afternoon activities: There are usually optional activities every Friday afternoon. 
    (4) Weekend activities: Regular weekend trips are available for our students. These go to exciting places like the Coromandel, Rotorua, Taupo and the Bay of Islands. There are beach trips in summer and skiing trips in winter. 
    (5) Parties: We arrange evening parties every couple of months - a great way to make new friends.
