Rolling Korea Korean&Culture Academy About the

  • More than half of international students who are studying Korean said that they study Korean because they like K-POPs and Korean culture. However, their dream and expectation are soon filled with difficult grammar and hard-going words. Students told us that studying in Korea which they challenged to understand K-POP, dramas and Korean culture which they like the most became ‘boredom’ from ‘enjoyment.’ ROLLING KOREA contemplated the method for not only delightful Korean education but also the way of delivering special experiences to students. There are courses to meet the desire of international students to fulfill their reasons of studying Korean. The goal and everyday task of ROLLING KOREA is to make students not to lose the thrill they felt when they first encountered Korean culture and want them to experience more excitingly.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    Students can enhance their Korean speaking skills step by step in this course. This is a course which makes Korean more exciting to learn. Students can improve Korean conversation skills in beginner to advanced level courses. 

    Benefit, Goal of this course :
    This course provides organized Korean classes in which students can develop their speaking, listening, vocabulary and grammar skills. The total class hours is 60 hours a month. There will be a special class with a special them every Wednesday. Students can learn Korean and Korean culture more easily through various experiences and events organized in this program. These special classes include ‘learning Korean at the famous coffee shop,’ ‘field trip to attraction in Seoul’ and ‘K-POP Korea.’ Learning efficiency is maintained not only by main textbooks, but also by various class materials and interesting learning activities. Students will learn Korean more efficiently by playing different games, using word cards and role playing. 

    Curriculum :
    -Beginner: A class for a students who learn Korean for the first time or who need to strengthen the basics of the language. Students will become accustomed to the consonants, vowels and pronunciation of Korean, simple everyday conversation and the expression of numbers.
    Intermediate: This is a class for students who know the basic grammar and are able to have a short conversation with Koreans. Students will learn and practice various expressions to express their thoughts and talk about their experiences.
    Advanced: This is a class for students who already have a strong Korean ability and who understand both the honorific and friendly terms. Students will improve their Korean skills through various class materials.

    Classroom Hour :
    Classes are Monday to Friday, from 10 o'clock in the morning until 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    Through this course, students can improve their Korean conversation skills. They will also get to correct their pronunciation problems and utilize useful expressions learned in class.

    Benefit, Goal of this course and Curriculum : 
    In this course, students will practice various conversation patterns and be more confident when speaking with Koreans. Students will practice speaking as much as possible in a given time not only with their teacher but also with their classmates. Teachers use various articles, advertisements from magazines and books to teach various expressions which cannot be learned from a textbook. Students will share their opinions freely with their classmates.

    Students will learn Korean by watching a drama and experiencing Korean culture through diverse outdoor activities!

    Benefit, Goal of this course and Curriculum :
    Students will not only improve their Korean skills quickly but also make wonderful memories with their classmates through participating in various activities. In the afternoon, after the class, students will go on a field trip to a drama set or get a Korean traditional skin therapy or try out traditional Korean costumes and so much more.

    Students will learn Korean by studying K-POP Korean. Korean skills will be significantly improved by studying the lyrics of a Korean song.

    Benefit, Goal of this course and curriculum : 
    There is no better study method than enjoying! Students can learn vocabulary and expressions by singing along a K-POP song of their choice. Learning through music makes Korean easy and fun.      Students learn Korean by watching Korean dramas. Students will learn various expressions and idioms and about Korean culture.

    Benefit, Goal of this course and Curriculum:
     Students will watch highlights of many different Korean dramas! Students will hear real-life conversations in Korea and be used to the vocabulary and grammar. This course will help students to improve speaking(pronunciation) and listening skills. Every Wednesday is "Special Wednesday" and students will participate in many activities outside the class.

  • 1. Gositel:
    It is an accommodation facility of a small one-room style which has a bed, table and shower facility. The inside area of a room, about 7m², is rather small but it has an advantage in terms that a person can stay with a cheap price as a compact living facility for one person. It is an accommodation facility which is usually used for a long-term stay of more than one month. Gositel is located very close to Rolling Korea, and each room is equipped with a private bathroom. Accomodation fee is inexpensive and steamed rice and kimchi is provided free of charge.

    2. Residence:
    It is an accommodation facility which a room is big and the personal living facility is clean. The inside area of a room is about 30 m² and it is a 1~2 person living facility. There is an advantage in terms that a person can stay with cheaper price than a hotel. You can you it much cheaper if you use it with a roommate because 2 people can stay in one room without an extra charge. Clients uses entrance/exit door key card/ Individual electronic door lock. Each room is equipped with an individual bathroom/ kitchen/ washing machine. Free international phone call is available and Han river trail is nearby.

    3. Guest House:
    It is an accommodation facility which lives with a roommate. It is composed of an individual room/2 people room/ 3, 4 people room/ 8 people room and it is a one-room style which has a washing machine/ kitchen/ bathroom in each room, so a person can live more comfortably than other guest houses. The guest house provides breakfasts free of charge and each room is equipped with a bathroom, kitchen and a washing machine.

    4. Mary Gold Hotel:
     Mary Gold Hotel is the newest style hotel remodeled in 2013. It has excellent accessibility because it is located in the roadside of Hongik University, and the inside facilities are also newly furnished up so it is clean. There is a restaurant on the first floor and a spa on the basement floor. There are also bar lounge and fitness facilities

Surrounding Area

  • The Hongdae Area is a region in Seoul,South Korea near the Hongik University, after which it is named. It is known for its urban arts and indie music culture, clubs and entertainments. The area is located in Mapo-gu in the western end of Seoul, stretching fromSeogyo-dong to Hapjeong-dong. Hongdae area is known for its indie spirit, urban street arts and underground band musicians. Many known bands like Jaurim, Crying Nut and Peppertones are from this street and started as indie bands. The area provides street art festivals and performances, as well as music concerts by independent artists and mainstream entertainers. The area is served by subway via Hongik University Station (line 2), Hapjeong Station (line 2 and line 6), and Sangsu Station (line 6). Also, various bus lines reach the street. The remodeled coffee shop used as a filming location for 2007 MBC drama The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince is located in Hongdae. The cafe in the namesake drama reopened after filming concluded with the wall flowers painting by Han Yoo-joo and other props from the drama on display.

  • ROLLING KOREA created a comfortable atmosphere to provide the best student environment. General classroom, large classroom and lobby are prepared which is suited to the size of class member. And there are free teas and coffees are placed right next to the water fountain.

Activity

  • The school provides opportunities beyond Korean Language to students, so that you can experience a variety of Korean Cultures. Such as K-POP dances, Vocal trainings, Korean style of makeups, cooking and etc. Students can visit a famous entertainment agency which a K-POP star is affiliated and have an opportunity to see a K-POP star closely if lucky. Students can enjoy various activities and make unforgettable memories.

Getting to the school from the airport

  • It is a service which a person who needs help because he/she visits Korea for the first time or has a lot of baggage can use comfortably. A person who can speak English or Japanese goes to an airport for pick up with a placard, and you can move from the airport to accommodation facility if you use this service.

    -Fare: 9 am ~ 7 pm: 125,000 won (other times 165,000 won)
    -Transportation: airport limousine bus (when using a taxi, an additional fare can be occurred depending on the distance traveled)
