Why This School?

  • - The VTC is a statutory body established in 1982 to provide a comprehensive vocational and professional education and training (VPET) system to suit the needs of Hong Kong.
    - The VTC works in partnership with organisations and institutions worldwide in the pursuit of excellence in VPET.
    - After graduation, students can apply for Master's programmes offered by Hong Kong and overseas universities, VTC and its member institutions in collaboration with overseas universities.

About the  VTC College

  • The Vocational Training Council (VTC) is the largest vocational education, training and professional development group in Hong Kong. Established in 1982, the VTC provides valuable credentials for some 250,000 students each year through a full range of pre-employment and in-service programmes with internationally recognised qualifications.

Course information

  • Focus of Study :
    The Diploma of Foundation Studies programme (DFS) prepares HKDSE graduates for employment or further studies by equipping them with trade-related knowledge and skills. Offered in nine streams to suit different study interests, its curricula cover strong generic elements and skills to help students realise their potential and build a strong foundation for future studies.

    Benefit, Goal of this course :
    Graduates will be eligible to apply for VTC’s Higher Diploma programmes in which they may also apply for module exemptions if they pursue further studies in the relevant subject area. More than 80% of graduates have been enrolled in VTC’s Higher Diploma programmes. VTC’s Diploma of Foundation Studies has been accepted by the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) as meeting the academic entry requirements of grades in the civil service which requires Level 2 in five subjects including Chinese Language and English Language in the HKDSE Examination. Students may consider taking the optional module “Foundation Mathematics III” for the eligibility to apply for VTC’s Higher Diploma Programmes or related civil service jobs, which require Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics as one of their general entry requirements. Graduates will also gain a head start in career sectors like health and life sciences, business, community services, design, engineering, hospitality, digital media, information technology and retail & e-commerce.
