The Urspringschule School includes a primary school for grades 3 and 4 and a state-recognized high school as well as an advanced high school from grade 11, each operating all day. Classes 3 and 4 are taught together. In 2012, the first year of the eight-year high school education (G8) passed their Abitur in Urspring, so that together with the previously usual nine-year high school education (G9), there was a unique double Abitur year.

Parallel to the high school education, a recognized apprenticeship with a final journeyman's examination in several trades (carpenter, tailor, precision mechanic (focus on mechanical engineering)) is possible from the eighth grade onwards. There are currently around 115 girls and boys living in the boarding school, and around 135 day students come on weekdays. Around 50 pedagogical employees work with the children and young people, in schools and boarding schools, supported by the specialist pedagogical service.

Furthermore, the Urspringschule has been an officially recognized basketball boarding school by the German Basketball Association since the mid-1990s . In 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2013, the school's U-19 team won the championship in the youth basketball Bundesliga . The team included several national players.

Internationally, the Urspringschule School is networked with partner schools in Belgium, Estonia, Scotland and Hungary as part of the EU Erasmus+ program and students have the opportunity to take part in student exchanges with the partner schools.
