Why This School?

  • - Schloss Crassenstein is a beautiful castle in western Germany, in a scenic environment near the small town of Wadersloh, with 10,000 inhabitants.
    - The castle was transformed into a boarding house for international exchange students, who live here like a small community.
    - Some of them stay longer (at least 3 years) in order to get ready for the German "Abitur", allowing access to universities in Germany.

Schloss Crassenstein About the

  • Castle Crassenstein private boarding school, West Germany, inmidst beautiful countryside and next to Wadersloh, a small town with 10.000 inhabitants. Castle Crassenstein was originally home to an aristocratic family going back to the 11th century. Today it accommodates a private boarding school, bearing the same name "Castle Crassenstein". In order to create a warm and comfortable environment for our students, empathy and life experience are particularly important t in the team. Teachers listen to students and always make time for their concerns. Teachers are all experienced specialists, familiar with modern care concepts and we continuously develop our didactic and pedagogical skills through further education and training. Of course, we have all the necessary qualifications for our respective areas. The school offers dynamic and modern teaching in a historical setting: Meals for example are served in the historic knights' hall. Extracurricular activities include regular cultural trips and a wide range of music and performing arts activities such as drama & dance clubs, fine arts and music classes.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
Boarding school Schloss Crassenstein cooperates with several partner High schools. The pupils are in a few minutes at school by bus. The language of instruction is German; English is the first foreign language. Spanish, French or Latin can be chosen as the second foreign language. International exchange students can attend grade 8, 9 or 10 in the school year 2022/2023. From 2023/2024, they can attend grades 8, 9, 10 and 11. International exchange students wanting to take the "Abitur" (the German high school leaving certificate allowing access to universities in Germany) should plan to spend at least the last 3 school years in the Germany to get ready for the Abitur.

Benefit, Goal of this course :
Being at home in Crassenstein means being surrounded by different cultures, languages, religions and nationalities and at the same time getting to know the German culture and language. Pupils from all over the world come to Crassenstein Castle to learn from and with each other and to experience a beautiful and formative time together. We appreciate being a small boarding school with around 40 students because that way we all know each other and feel like we are a family that also meets over meals, talks and helps each other. This is how we get to know our students, what they think and feel, what goals they are pursuing and what they hope for in the future. We are happy to accompany and support our students!

Location

Accommodation

  • The underage students live in the historic castle in double rooms. The students over 18 years of age live in the pavilion in the grounds of the castle. Three meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner - are all taken together in the castle. Besides meals, snacks and fruit are always available for the students. We pay attention to a healthy and varied diet. Outside of school, state-certified educators and social workers, who all have a lot of experience with different cultures and the challenges of boarding school life, as many of our students are away from home for the first time, look after the young people.Of course, there are always carers on site, even at night. In the afternoons and early evenings, there are always teachers in the castle to help with school matters - organisational matters, homework, tutoring, etc.

In the castle we offer our students various leisure activities such as table tennis, table football, billiards and darts. In the evening we liked to sit down together to talk, play board games, cook or bake.
