About the  The University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweine-furt

  • The Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt, THWS for short, is one of the largest technical universities in Bavaria with around 9,300 enrolled students and around 240 professors. The THWS was founded in 1971 at the two locations Würzburg and Schweinfurt, which continue to exist successfully to this day. The ten faculties of the THWS offer over 50 bachelor's and master's courses . The wide range of future-oriented courses covers the areas of technology, economics and social sciences, computer science, design and language. Studying at the THWS is characterized by a special focus on application. Practical semesters, project work and a high proportion of laboratory and seminar exercises characterize the strong practical relevance of the course at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences. The students are optimally prepared for the requirements of companies and later professional life.

The quality of teaching at the THWS is ensured, among other things, by the Teaching Quality Committee, in which the deans of studies from all faculties and the department head of the continuing education campus work, chaired by a vice president.
The THWS also participates in the "Teaching Quality Pact" from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). As part of the BEST-FIT project , the university is implementing various measures designed to improve pass rates and reduce the number of dropouts.
