  • The TU Clausthal is a strong research university with outstanding national and international networks. It proves this with a high level of third-party funding and with a wide range of successful cooperations with universities, non-university research institutions and companies regionally, nationally and globally. The approximately 85 professors, 3,500 students and around 1,100 employees enjoy short distances, personal contact and the varied landscape of the Upper Harz in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Harz Mountains.The degree programs at the TU Clausthal are regularly found in the top group of the CHE ranking. With around 40 percent foreign students from more than 100 countries, the TU Clausthal lives internationality.   • The Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen (branch office in Clausthal-Zellerfeld) provides all cooperation students with available rooms in our residence halls. Should you require a room, please apply online to Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen directly. It is necessary to mention on the housing application form that you are coming to TU Clausthal under a cooperation program.  

    It is also possible to live in a private apartment. Offers can be found under the link Privater Wohnungsmarkt.  

    The average rent is substantially lower in Clausthal-Zellerfeld than in larger cities, which means many 2-bedroom apartments will only cost a little more than a room in a residence hall.

Surrounding Area

  • Göttingen is a university city in Lower Saxony, central Germany, the capital of the eponymous district. Göttingen City Museum (Städtisches Museum Göttingen) has permanent and temporary exhibitions of historical and artistic materials, although most of the building is currently closed for renovation.
    The university's Ethnographic Collection includes an internationally significant South Seas exhibition (Cook/Forster collection) and mostly 19th-century materials from the Arctic polar region (Baron von Asch collection) as well as major displays on Africa. The Old City Hall (Altes Rathaus) has temporary art shows of local, regional, and international artists.The Paulinerkirche in the Historical University Library building has various temporary exhibitions, usually of a historic nature. The university has a number of significant museums and collections.
