  • Focus of Study :
The Humboldt-Institut offers intensive German language courses for children and teenagers in summer and year-round.

Benefit, Goal of this course :
Our German courses for children and teenagers are offered year-round in Bad Schussenried and Lindenberg. This offers a great variety of starting dates and a flexible course duration. The curriculum has a high learning progression, as it is designed, among other things, for students planning to go to school in Germany, or who would like to noticeably improve their academic performance in German lessons in their home country. The intensive German courses comprise either 25 lessons (children) or 30 lessons (teenagers) of 45 minutes per week. Classes run from Monday to Friday and cover the areas of listening and reading comprehension, writing skills, speaking skills and grammar. The lessons are especially structured and designed for younger and adolescent students. They are action-oriented, interactive and demanding, very effective and fun!

Course information

  • Focus of Study :
    preparatory courses

Benefit, Goal of this course :
After successfully completing the Humboldt level B2, our students will be able to continue their secondary education in Germany. There they can complete their high school completion diploma or Abitur, which is the prerequisite for admission to a German university. To ease the transition between our German course and German school attendance, the Humboldt-Institut offers a special school transition course aimed at teaching the terminology and methodology in the most important subject areas taught in school.

    Curriculum :

The school transition course is organized into subject area modules: the natural sciences (mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry) and the humanities (history, politics, geography, religion). Art and music are covered as well. In addition to acquiring important technical vocabulary, students also learn how to summarize texts, work with sources, perform research and give presentations. Role-playing simulation games and project work also teach students how to work in groups.

The school transition course can only be booked after successfully passing the Humboldt level B2.

Location

Accommodation

  • Our students stay in twin rooms directly on campus. All rooms have their own en-suite bathroom, as well as a balcony.

We carefully choose the students who will share a room with each other. We take care to match roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way we encourage them to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately.

Our students receive three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

Laundry service is offered to all students free of charge once a week for their personal laundry. Bed linen and towels will be provided and changed regularly.

Facilities

  • Bad Schussenried has many sports facilities for young athletes. In addition to a large sports hall, the school features a large indoor swimming pool with sauna and a climbing wall, as well as adjacent indoor tennis courts. Outside we have lawns, sports fields, a lake for swimming and mountain bikes for rides through the magnificent surroundings.

Activity

  • Budding artists can give wings to their creativity in our arts and crafts rooms as well as in several workshops. Games and party rooms (with table football, pool and ping-pong tables) complete the varied range of options and guarantee an interesting leisure program.

Regardless of the weather, our students can always have fun during their leisure time. And our staff of counselors and facilitators will make sure that everyone will feel included, and that the vast array of activities they organize includes a great option for every student.

Some examples of leisure time activities:
Basketball, Handicrafts, Beachvolleyball, Billiards, Disco, Football, Barbecue, Climbing, Piano, Mountainbikes, Sauna, Swimming (indoor pool), Swimming (lake), Sports hall, Tennis (indoor), Table football, Table tennis, Volleyball
