Oxford House (OHC) - London About the

  • Established in 1974, Oxford House College provides English Language courses in central London in a spacious and modern building. As well as General English we also offer more specialist courses such as English for Business Success, IELTS and Conversation/Pronunciation classes.We are an established Cambridge ESOL centre, providing FCE, CAE and CPE courses throughout the day. Students can study anytime between 9.00 and 20.30, Monday to Friday. Our English courses are accredited by the British Council and EAQUALS, and offer the best value for money of any accredited organisation. We are also a recognised by UKBA as a Tier 4 sponsor for General Student Visas. Our Teacher Training department provides courses for CELTA (18 per year), DELTA (twice a year) as well as Overseas Teacher courses throughout the year. We are a college dedicated to helping our students fulfil their goals, dreams and ambitions at an affordable price.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    General English courses at Oxford House College are designed to develop your reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities.
     
    Curriculum :
    At higher levels we aim to foster skills that will allow you to work in an English speaking environment with confidence in your language ability. Our expert and highly-qualified teachers ensure that you can master the whole language by improving your ability to use English grammar. They will even make your pronunciation sound more natural and easier to understand. We provide you with a flexible, goal orientated classes to ensure that progress can be made to any schedule. This ensures Oxford House College really is the best place to learn English in London.
     
    The  Course are scheduled in the morning with 15 lessons per week 9:00 -12:00PM. English lessons focus on helping you communicate effectively and confidently in everyday. The wide-ranging syllabus will improve your listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills.
     
    The Program is offered at 6 levels of instruction; A1 is the most elementary level while Level C2 is the most advanced. Upon their arrival, are required to take a placement test to help determine the level best-suited to their ability. At the end of the session, students are evaluated for advancement to the next level based upon their academic improvement.
    This program assists students at any ability level in developing English language skills, general communication skills, and building confidence when speaking. Instruction focuses on grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening. Each week, academic objectives are planned in advance and discussed with the students

Our Director of Studies and teaching staff will be here to advise you which options suit you best when you arrive.

  • Homestay Accommodation
    Make the most of your stay in London with carefully selected Homestay accommodation. You will feel at home and be able to practise your English in friendly surroundings. You will have your own room, and you can choose between 3 meals options: self catering (you cook for yourself), breakfast only, or breakfast and dinner. Homestay in London Zones 2 - 6 is provided through an accommodation agency. Shared rooms are only available if you are coming with another person at the same time and leaving at the same time. Oxford House College is in Zone 1.
     
    Friendship House - Southwark:
    Friendship House is a new, architect designed, self-catering residence. Well situated in historic Southwark it is close to a number of underground stations including Southwark, Elephant and Castle, Borough and Waterloo, giving easy access to both the City and the West End. The Tate Modern Gallery, the Globe Theatre and Southwark Cathedral are in easy walking distance. The House has accommodation for 179 residents in en-suite bedrooms, mostly single but with some double bedrooms and nine rooms designed for residents with physical disabilities.The House is attractively designed with two lounges and a TV room overlooking a water feature, a garden room and a quiet room. Self catered kitchens are provided for groups of ten residents who provide their own food and cooking utensils. There are two lifts, a laundry and vending machines.
    Please note that Friendship House has cabled internet access in each room.
     
    Bowden Court - Notting Hill Gate:
    Bowden Court is well situated in a quiet residential street, yet close to the bustle of Notting Hill Gate with its famous Portobello Road street market and in easy walking distance of Kensington Gardens, Bayswater and Holland Park. Notting Hill Gate underground station is close by.The House has accommodation for 272 residents in a combination of one, two and three bedded rooms. A large dining room is situated on the lower ground floor and facilities include a TV room, lounge, study room, Internet access, laundry and vending machines. There is a garden area for residents’ use.
     
    Regina House - Gloucester Road:
    Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park are to the north with Chelsea to the south. Regina House is situated in a very sought after location, close to Gloucester Road underground station and near to Imperial College, the Royal Albert Hall and Exhibition Road with its museums.The Regina House consists of the main building and its neighbouring Annexe has accommodation for 103 residents in a combination of one, two, three and four bedded rooms. There is a large comfortable lounge/TV room at ground floor level with a well equipped dining room on the lower ground floor. Other facilities include free Wi-Fi in the common areas and wired
    internet in the rooms, laundry and vending machines. There are shared bathroom facilities.

Surrounding Area

  • In London, we are at 30 Oxford Street, near to Tottenham Court Road underground station served by the Northern and Central lines and easy to reach from most areas of London. World class shops, theatres, cinemas, restaurants, bars, museums and galleries are all within walking distance.

  • OHC has extensive library facilities as well as a popular cafe where students meet to chat and enjoy a snack. OHC students have access to the latest information technology. This includes both fixed and wireless broadband internet access.

ロンドン校に行ってきました～＾＾

学校は設備が整っててパソコン室、図書館、自習室、カフェテリア、バスケットボールコートとかが
あって良かったです。
授業は進み具合は私には合ってました。
年齢層は２０代が多かったです！
クラスで仲良くなるとクラスでご飯食べに行ったりもして
楽しかったです。
ホームステイ先も親切で学校から近いとこを手配してくれたので
通い易く週末は出やすく満足でした＾＾
