We have put together an array of language learning programs that serve a full spectrum range of personal interests, preferences and career choices.ILSC has set some goals to keep developing as one of the finest schools for language and career education where people have excellent and transformative learning and living experiences. For example, ILSC helps students to improve their language skills within the context of their needs and interests, become self-directed lifelong learners, and enjoy the process of learning with confidence and ease. ILSC also provides a warm and enjoyable learning and work environment. There are three principles in ILSC. The first Principle is that learning works very well when it is student-centred. The second one is that learning works better when it is made a part of the experiences of daily life. The last one is that people learn best when they are confident, at ease and happy. To ensure that the above three principles will best assist your learning process, your ILSC teacher functions as a modeler of language, resource person, facilitator, mentor and friend. All teachers at ILSC must possess the following qualifications; a completed Bachelors degree and a completed TESL certificate recognized by TESL Canada (or equivalent).ILSC offers a wide range of courses. You can take any combination you wish, depending on your interests, goals, language level and schedule. Most courses are offered at many different levels and last four weeks.ILSC has policies and procedures in place to help ensure our students have the best possible experience while at ILSC. First of all, we have an English/French Only Policy in the school. This means that whenever you are in the school you must speak English or French (whichever language you are studying.) If ILSC students are not speaking English/French (their language of study) in the school some rules apply, such as suspension or sending letters to agent and parents.

Location

Accommodation

  • ILSC's Student Accommodation Department provides a wide range of accommodation options to suit a student's budget and needs. Students can choose to stay in a Homestay and learn English by living with a Canadian family. Most of our homestay accommodations are located between 40-60 minutes away from ILSC locations. ILSC can also connect you with a wide range of alternative accommodations, which are geared for students who want to live more independently.

    1. Homestay Options
Staying in a Homestay in Canada will give you an excellent opportunity to practice your English conversation skills and experience Canadian culture and family life. Your Homestay family in Canada will be different from your own, so we ask that you be prepared to adjust to a new household routine, different foods and new rules. You will become one of the family! Please keep in mind that Canada has a very diverse cultural makeup with citizens from a wide variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

    - Full-board Homestay (three meals/day and snacks)
    - Half-board Homestay (breakfast and dinner, No lunch included, Snacks available only in the evening)
    - Roomstay (No meals or snacks provided by the family, Students can use the kitchen to cook their own meals)

    2. Alternative Accommodation Options
ILSC's locations provide a variety of alternative accommodation options which meet a range of budgets and tastes. Depending on location, students may choose private or shared suites and/or rooms. Options may include furnished apartments, hotels, hostels, residences, or suites in houses. Alternative accommodation will provide a room with bed(s), desk, private or shared bathroom, and in some cases, use of Internet.

Surrounding Area

  • European sophistication meets Canadian friendliness in Montréal, the largest French-speaking city in the world outside of Paris. This metropolis of 3.6 million offers culture around the clock in both English, and French, and most Montréalers speak both official Canadian languages. If you’re passionate about the arts, film, food and fashion, you’ll fall in love with the city as soon as you arrive. Old world architecture and new world chic, stylish shopping districts and lush green parks abound in a city whose unique character was shaped by the French, the English, and two centuries of immigrants from more than 80 countries.

The ILSC-Montréal campus is set in the heart of Old Montréal, close to the Old Port, and near public transport, parks and more. ILSC students will love Montréal’s amazing natural setting and its sizzling urban scene, from live music and dancing to theatre and endless restaurant choices.

It’s a chance to relax after class, and spend time with your new friends while practising English or French in the real world. Whatever your interests, there are activities to match – from rock climbing and baseball games to theatre, music festivals, and cultural tours. An ILSC staff member will be your guide, and the only costs are transportation and entry fees where required.
