  • As the only college located in downtown Toronto, students only study at each college according to their major. There are four campuses and one dormitory. St. James Campus is the main campus where language course students are studying. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the dormitory from St.James Campus. The dormitory is shared by local and international students, and because it is  a dormitory, people who prefer a quiet environment can find a house nearby and move in after a semester.

    Out of about 30,000 students, 10 percent of Korean students are almost impossible to bump into. Six departments offer a total of 168 programs.     George Brown College has a variety of programs that provide the skills needed to succeed in modern jobs.

    An English language course aimed to go to university.
    • EAP consists of nine levels, eight weeks for each level. The level test evaluates students' language skills and enables them to start learning at a level that is just right for each person.

    Through the full-time English program provided by George Brown College, you can acquire the necessary language skills to succeed in Canada. You can improve English ability in the educational environment of George Brown, which focuses on future studies and career success.

    There are currently 1,000 language course students. 50% percent are international students, and half of them are new immigrants. As the class is big, class is divided into morning class which starts at 9am and afternoon class which starts at 1pm. Morning and afternoon classes are randomly assigned by the school, and students cannot choose. The EAP (English for Academic Purposs), an ESL course at George Brown College, is a full-time program that allows you to acquire the language skills you need to succeed in Canada. You can improve your English skills in a friendly environment that focuses on academic and career successes.

    There are nine levels, each of levels is  for eight weeks. At the end of Level 8, a widely recognized Ontario College Certificate is issued (if at least two ESL levels have been completed at George Brown). Students will be given the appropriate level through a level test on arrival, but those who are taking language courses for one year certificate, three years' Diploma, or Associate's degree courses can submit TOEFL or IELTS scores to be informed of the timing to start study and time required for admission.

Course information

  • Since there are many majors that are popular, it is recommended to apply in one year advance. Students who do not have TOEFL or IELTS scores can go to school after finishing language course, but to predict the length of the course, we recommend you take a english exam and submit your results even though you have a low score.

    Admission time is January, May, and September.

    The Certificate process is usually one year, but the Diploma process is varies from one year to three years. For those who are planning to study for permanent residency, please note that you must register a program more than 2 years to get a three-year work permit after graduation.

    The math grades of the second and third grade in high school should be at least 50% (5 grades). If the conditions are not met, you can take online classes or take tests. Post graduate degree program that send students to Italy and France for placement require a little bit of Italian and French. It's a coursed designed to get into university at May and go for a placement after a semester (1 year course)

    *Business related degree can choose a two-year program that only includes lectures and a three-year course that includes a co-up program in which you get a work experience. 3rd semester and 6th semester will be replaced as a internship program. Students who choose a co-up course can change to normal course, but the reverse is not possible.

    *Architecture degree is popular with reconstruction course and air-conditioning and co-conditioning course. It's mainly consist of male students as they will work at construction site.

    *Child care degree
    Early childhood education is a popular major. As part of the Ryerson University building, located right next to George Brown College, is used by early childhood education students, all facilities at both schools are available. In case of an early education major, they take 7 weeks of classes and go to work placement for 7 weeks. This schedule will be repeated until graduation. While working, classes are replaced by online lectures. George Brown College is located in the heart of Toronto and operates 13 child care centers (from four to seven years old), where students are mainly working.

    *Health
    It's not easy to get into school. A high school transcript requires 70 percent or more of your English, Math, Biology, Chemistry (or Physics) scores to study Health. Students who wish to apply for the major may consider taking a foundation course that starts with Pre- for one year, and studying at main university for two years. As a result student will studying for three years in total. Another way is that before leaving your country, students may take an online lecture to fulfill the score, or submit an online test result. In April 2019, dental hygienists are recruiting only one international student and dentistry majors are recruiting five international students. The competition is very high.

    Co-up application:
    If your major includes Work Experience, you will be paid $450 for a co-up application, find a job and support yourself, and receive a minimum hourly wage ($11.50) in Canada. You can get a list of our partner companies.

    Scholarship ($1,000-$5,000)
    You can apply after the second semester.
    GPA 3.5/4.0 or higher. It requires service activity records, two of professor recommendation, and interview after submitting resume outside of school.

  • All of George Brown's students are free to participate in fitness classes, sporting events and more at the Fitness Center on the main campus. The school team, 'Huskies,' is a member of the Ontario College Athletic Association and participates in a variety of sporting events every year, including badminton, baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross-country, golf and more. Students can also join their own clubs or create new clubs. George Brown College has a variety of facilities such as cafeteria, wireless Internet zone, restaurants, bookstores, and convenience stores that make life easier for students.

Getting to the school from the airport

  • Use Pearson International Airport. Union Pearson Express (UP Express) trains are available from the airport to downtown, and other areas are taken by bus. The subway in downtown Toronto runs until 1:00 a.m. and price is fixed as $3.25 with no changes, so you need to have the right amount of coins.
