About the  International Programs

  • Locate in Auburn, Washington, a suburb town of Seattle, Green River is a two-year government supported community college founded in 1965, with approximately 9000 students attending. The school is run by internationally talented and renowned faculties who share a variety of background which helps them work with international students and ESL. All faculties have been recruited by the recruitment staff who travel throughout the year to many different university fairs and thus Green River's faculty guarantees excellence. The school's mainstream course is the Intensive English Program which is designed to help international students make a smooth transition to American universities. The program ensures a competitive, challenging, English-speaking environment in which students will be able to immerse in the American culture and adapt to English at the shortest time allowed. Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    Green River Community College's Intensive English Program is designed for students who have future plans to study at American universities. Students not only learn English but also skills that American colleges require in order to be fully ready for successful academic lives.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    The Intensive English Program places all students in small classes appropriate for intensive pace in developing English skills. Highly qualified instructors will help students transfer to prestigious American universities such as the University of Washington, University of Southern California, University of Michigan, Purdue University, University of California at Berkeley, Johns Hopkins University and many more others.

    Curriculum : 
     20 in-class instructions are offered weekly, along with curricular focus on English skills (grammar, writing, reading and oral communication), Academic skills (process writing, presentations, research skills), Study skills (organization, team work, self-assessment) and Cultural skills. 

    Classroom Hour :
    The course provides four instructional hours per day and five instructional days per week, making 20 instructional hours in total per week. Fall, winter and spring  semesters last 11 weeks.

  • Campus Corner Apartments are provided for students seeking independence and new friends. Students will prepare their own meals while basic move-in kits, central laundry facility, kitchen and lounge area and Community room are available. Campus housings allow students a quick access to school facilities, on-site student activities and private and group study areas. It is not of students' responsibility to find roommates as all placement will be done by GRCC's housing manager. Homestay is the other option that GRCC offers to its students. It costs $650 per month with airport pickup, area orientation, campus visit, private room, assistance with banking, 3 meals per day, and a $10 long distance phone card provided. Homestay is a perfect choice for students looking to truly experience the American culture.

Surrounding Area

  • Seattle is a lively city in which students can enjoy whale watching, river rafting, hiking, skiing and snowboarding, snow cave camping, professional sports (soccer, baseball) and shopping. Over breaks, students also take trips to California, Canada, New York, Las Vegas and Hawaii. GRCC is 45-minute drive away from Seattle, 25-minute drive away from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, 2.5 hour-drive away from Vancouver, 2 hour-drive away from the Pacific Ocean beaches. 1-2 hour plane trips will take students to San Francisco and Los Angeles.

  • Green River Community College's many facilities include newly installed wireless internet access, on-campus housing, bookstore, cafeteria, fitness center, Performing Arts Center, free tutoring center, new aviation simulator center and KGRC- a top iHeartRadio station run by students.

  • Out of 9,000 GRCC students, there are approximately 1500 international students. Top countries from which international students come from include China (37%), Vietnam (11%), Korea (10%), Hong Kong (9%) and Japan (7%).

現在、大学進学に向けて集中英語プログラムコースにて日々学んでいます。
僕は進学したい大学を先に決めていたので、その大学と提携していて、編入可能なこの語学学校を選びました。

大学進学を考えている学生が集まっている分、授業も大学進学向けの学生に合わせた内容ですし、
学生一人一人のレベルもとても高いので意識向上にもなります。

現在はキャンパス内にある学生寮に住んでいます。
同じクラス以外の友達もたくさん出来たので会話の練習にもなってとても楽しく過ごしています。

また学校周辺は騒がしくなく静かなところにあるので
落ち着いた環境で勉強が出来るのもとても良いです！

大学進学を目指していて、その大学がもしグリーンリバーカレッジと提携しているのであれば
