  • As an integral component of fulfilling the mandate of Central Connecticut State University as a Center for Excellence in International Education, it is the mission of the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) to provide English As an integral component of fulfilling the mandate of Central Connecticut State University as a Center for Excellence in International Education, it is the mission of the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction in American English and an introduction to American culture. The IELP serves international students, non-native speakers of English residing in the surrounding area, faculty members from abroad, and foreign professionals. Specifically, the IELP offers English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to individuals who are seeking matriculation into American universities, especially CCSU, and facilitates the transition of these students into mainstream academic courses. Central Connecticut State University is a regional, comprehensive public university in New Britain, Connecticut. The southernmost of the New England states, Connecticut provides a wealth of social and cultural activities for visitors. The state’s rural beauty is balanced by its close proximity to New York City and Boston, Massachusetts. It is an ideal location for students who enjoy quiet surroundings, but who wish to be near to some of the greatest cultural assets the United States has to offer.

About the  Central Connecticut State University (CCSU)

  • Central Connecticut State University is a regional, comprehensive public university in New Britain, Connecticut. Founded in 1849 to train teachers, CCSU has expanded over time to become a four-year degree granting institution and University. It also offers Master's degrees and Doctoral degrees. Its borders now stretch to the western edge of Newington where State Routes 9 and 175 intersect. CCSU is made up of five schools: the Ammon School of Arts & Science, the School of Business, the School of Education & Professional Studies, the School of Engineering & Technology, and the School of Graduate Studies. Attended by over 11,000 students, 9,200 are undergraduates, and 2,000 are graduate students. In the Connecticut State University system, CCSU is the most selective. It is part of the ConnSCU system of colleges and universities in Connecticut, which also oversees Eastern, Western, and Southern Connecticut State University. Together the four universities have a student body of over 34,000.

  • Focus of Study and Benefits:
    The main focuse of the course are skill areas including listening/speaking and reading/writing/grammar.Language laboratory and computer work included in the program .Free institutional TOEFL exam offered at end of each session to test students' improvement in class. 

    Curriculum :
    This program is designed for students who wish to gain their knowledge in English or who is preparing to study in American college or university. Ranging from beginner to advanced, the course is offered in 5 different levels with 12 to 15 students in each class. 

    Classroom Hour :
    The class meets 4 hours everyday,from Monday to Friday. The class schedule may vary for each level.

  • On campus housing
    On-campus housing is always limited during the fall semester.  Therefore, applicants must register early. Generally only students who register for the entire fall semester (16 weeks) are eligible for on-campus housing. Students who come Fall II (October) and the Spring II (March), sessions are allowed to live on campus for eight weeks. Although chances of getting housing during the spring are better, applicants are still advised to register early.
     
    Off campus housing
    IELP cannot guarantee off-campus housing and we are not authorized to enter into rental agreements on behalf of students.  Students are ultimately responsible for finding and securing their own off-campus housing.

커리큘럼 :

キャンパス内の住居＆食事
キャンパス内の住宅は保証されていませんが、大学の寮は利用可能です。
レジデンスライフに直接お問い合わせください。

注：キャンパス内の住宅は、秋学期の場合常に制限があります。したがって、応募者は早めに登録しなければなりません。
一般的に、秋学期（16週間）に登録する学生のみが、キャンパス内の住居に入居することが出来ます。 
Fall II（10月）とSpring II（3月）のセッションでは、キャンパス内に8週間住むことができます。
春の方が入居できる確立は高いですが、申請者は早めに登録することをお勧めします。

ヒルトップカフェ・キャンパスの食事プラン：すべてのレジデンス・ホールの学生は、秋と春のセッション中に食事プランを購入する必要があります。
注：キャンパス内に16週間未満の滞在の場合は、週19食を購入する必要があります。もしくはいくつかの食事プランから選択することができます。

メモリアルホールカフェテリアやヒルトップカフェで食事を提供しています。
大学の長期休暇や休憩中には食事サービスはありません。
夏には、平日だとキャンパスカフェテリアや、またはキャンパスの近くのレストランで週7日間食事が出来ます。

제가 다녀온 프로그램에 대하여 평가를 남기려 합니다.
제가 다녀온 대학은 Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) (센트럴 코네티컷 주립 대학교) 이고 
다녀온 프로그램의 이름은 집중 영어 프로그램 (Intensive English Language Program) 입니다.

수업의 주된 내용은 듣기/말하기 그리고 읽기/쓰기/영문법입니다. 언어 연구와 컴퓨터 작업은 코스 내용에 포함되어 있으며 매 세션 마지막에 학생들의 실력 향상을 위해 무료로 제공되는 자체 토플 시험이 시행되는 프로그램입니다.
참 매력적이죠? 무료로 자체 토플이 진행된다고 해서 더 매력적으로 끌렸던 프로그램이었습니다.

저는 16주 프로그램으로 다녀왔구요.  지금 아직도 미국에 있습니다. 
대학을 진학을 목표로 다녀온 프로그램이며 잘 진행되어서 지금 대학교 진학을 준비하고 있습니다.

프로그램 학생수는 많지 않은 10명 남짓의 학생들과 수업을 듣게 됩니다.
일단 프로그램을 시작하는 초기에 내가 어떤 레벨인지를 가늠하게 됩니다. 그 테스트를 통해서 초급자 ~ 상급자까지 코스를 나눠서 공부를 하였습니다.
일단 무작정 1에서 시작하는 것이 아니라 나의 레벨이 어떤지를 알고 그 레벨부터 시작했다는 것에 매우 맘에 들었습니다.
저는 어려서 홈스테이를 캐나다로 다녀온 적이 있긴 하나 어리고 그리고 그 당시에는 영어의 중요성을 몰라서 잘 못배웠던거 같습니다.
하지만 이 프로그램 과정을 통해서 짧고도 긴 시간동안 영어가 많이 늘었던거 같습니다.
과정은16주 간이며 일주일에 10시간으로 진행 학생은 6-9 학점을 이수할 수 있어서 학점 또한 이수하였습니다.


그리고 지리적 위치가 바쁜 뉴욕과 보스턴이 각각 2시간 거리 정도에 위치 하여서 바쁘지도 않고 너무 조용하지도 않은 위치에 있어서
유흥가도 많지 않아서 공부에 집중하기가 좋았습니다. 치안도 매우 좋았구요.

숙박은 캠퍼스 내 거주 하였습니다.
저는 16주 코스라서 캠퍼스 안에서 거주를 할 수 있었습니다.
제가 알고 있기로는 캠퍼스 내 주거시설은 가을학기에만 가능하고 16주 코스부터라고 알고 있습니다.
캠퍼스로 숙박을 선택한 것이 잘 한 선택이라 생각합니다.
친구들도 많이 사귀게 되었고 자연스럽게 일상에서 쓰이는 영어도 많이 배운 것 같습니다.

여러 문화권의 친구들도 많이 사귀고 친구들이랑 어울리면서 외롭지 않게 즐겁게 지냈습니다.
여러모로 얻은 점이 많았던 프로그램 이었습니다
추천합니다.
