Course Information

  • Focus of Study, Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    For students who plan to enter an American college or university, and for professionals who need a high level of accuracy and writing skills for their career. There is a strong emphasis on fluency and academic skill development in this program. This course includes TOEFL preparation electives for some levels. Students who have advanced English proficiency have a larger range of electives.

    Curriculum : 
    This program is designed for students who are preparing to go to American college or university and others who need English writing skills for their careers. Classes are divided into three level, with average of 13 students in each class. Required classes for the programs are core classes for fluency and comprehension, and Listening skills. Elective classes are offered each quarter and some examples are Vocabulary Development, Conversation, Writing Development and Everyday English.

Course information

  • Focus of Study : 
    The Professional Certificate in Business Management is one of the most popular UC San Diego Extension certificate programs. Students choose the 2-quarter or 3-quarter option, with an emphasis in Pre-MBA/Global Commerce, Marketing, Human Resources, or Finance. Students who complete 3 consecutive quarters of successful study qualify to apply for Optional Practical Training.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    These programs are for serious students with at least one to two years of full-time paid professional-level work experience in a business environment. Internships and part-time work will not be counted towards this requirement. Qualified students will learn about U.S. business practices and acquire necessary skills and knowledge for a career in business. The 3-quarter program is the best option for students who would like to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT). If you do not have the required university or work experience for this program, please read about our Business Essentials program. Business Management: Two Quarters versus Three QuartersThe Business Management 3-quarter program combines the Business Management 2-quarter program with a 1-quarter specialization in your chosen area of emphasis.During the first quarter, all students take the same classes. Students in the 3-quarter program further develop their skills in the selected area of study during the third quarter. Students choose one of the following emphases: General Business (pre-MBA), Marketing, Finance or Human Resources.Both programs include daytime and evening classes. The daytime classes are specifically designed to meet the needs of international students and cover foundations of general business. During evening classes (primarily in the second and third quarters), participants will be studying alongside American adults.Students who excel in the 2-quarter program may choose to continue for another quarter, but will not receive the cost benefit of originally enrolling in the 3-quarter program.

    Curriculum : 
    Business Management program includes approximately 140 hours of classroom instruction per quarter with 15 students, and 120 hours of internship experience. Interaction with San Diego business professionals and Individual and group projects and presentations will help students to get more hands on experience. 

    Classroom Hour : 
    Specific schedules are not yet planned. Classes are held Monday through Friday, and occasionally on Saturdays during daytime and nighttime.

    This program is recommended for participants who would like to focus on the development of effective classroom teaching skills and modern English language teaching techniques to students in non-English speaking countries and to non-immigrants in U.S. classrooms.

    Curriculum :

    Curriculum :
