  • University of New Haven is a private, nonsectarian, coeducational university located in West Haven, Connecticut, which borders the larger city of New Haven and Long Island sound. Combining a liberal arts education with professional training, the university comprises five degree-granting colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, the Tagliatela College of Engineering, the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, and the College of Lifelong& eLearning for adult and online students. The school houses 522 faculty members and 6,400 undergraduate and graduate students. Situated on over 75 acres overlooking the Connecticut shoreline the main campus is 90 minutes by train to New York city and 2.5 hours from Boston.

Conditional admission

  • Associate, Certificate and Diploma programs accept students with over 112 level in ELS. With over level 112 in ELS, students can be accepted to Bachelor and Master's programs. Both Undergraduate and Graduate schools issue a CLA to students.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is set out to provide students with the fundamental academic tools they will need in order to study abroad. EAP will be the initiative to students' pursuit of higher education.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    Students who enroll in EAP program will ultimately aim for conditional admissions to ELS' 650+ partner universities. Students who complete all 12 levels of Intensive EAP courses will be issued a Certificate of Completion which will prove students' English proficiency at more than 650 universities.

    Curriculum :
    Students at all levels will be offered Language Technology Center and Reading/Writing lessons. From beginner(101-103) to advanced(107-109), students will be provided with structure/speaking and vocabulary lessons while masters (110-112) will be provided with Skills Enhancement Class and Language Studies additionally.

Also included is daily hot buffet breakfast and dinner from Monday- Thursday. Rooms are cleaned once a week. Linens, pots, pans, glasses, silverware and dishware are all included. There is also a fitness center and a business center on the

    Note: When Premiere Hotel is full, student residence is in double rooms at La Quinta Inn.

    Description: Many homestays are located in West Haven near campus; some are conveniently located in New Haven and other communities near campus. Homestay students are responsible for their personal transportation. Most students take a

Surrounding Area

  • ELS/New Haven is located at the University of New Haven (UNH) in West Haven, adjacent to the city of New Haven. Known for its continuing tradition as a national educational and cultural center, historic New Haven is home to six colleges and universities including prestigious Yale University. It is also home to the Schubert Theatre and the New Haven Green – a site of many free music concerts, arts festivals and the New Haven Jazz Festival. UNH is only ten minutes from the West Haven shoreline of Sandy Point, and within easy reach of New York City and Boston. New Haven has hot summers (June, July and August) and cold winters (November through March). Students should bring appropriate clothing.

在紐黑文大學上完課,整個人都變得更活潑了!學校每個老師都有自己的教學風格,課堂上不會僅僅只是老師說、學生聽,而是用互動的方式讓我們享受學習英文的樂趣。在紐黑文大學上課的期間,早上讀寫和下午聽說各有不同老師,所以隨著等級的不同,我總共上過8位老師的課。通常老師喜歡讓學生以團體或小組的方式進行課程的討論,如果沒有發言,老師還會特別和你對話!有些老師喜歡用遊戲比賽的方式讓課堂變得有趣味性,班上的同學也會為了贏得比賽而相互合作,絞盡腦汁全力以赴。也有老師會藉由課堂的主題帶我們深入其境,而不是紙上空談。我印象最深刻的莫過於下午聽說課程時,老師前一週在課堂上教我們一些法庭上會用到的相關單字,然後隔週就帶我們到實際的法庭觀摩審判,結合實際生活體驗,學習的印象更深刻,而不是只侷限在教室裡。除了課堂上的學習生活多采多姿之外,學校的設備也是一應俱全,除了有電腦教室可以讓你搜尋作業尚需要的資料和家人聯繫之外,我也很喜歡學校的圖書館。學校內的圖書也有依等級區分,所以不用擔心找不到適合自己閱讀的書本。更棒的是,除了圖書和雜誌之外,也有很多媒材資源可以外借,圖書館對我來說簡直就像是一個寶庫。
除了有著歡樂的課堂時光之外,每週五還有全校性的大活動-畢業典禮,每個當週畢業的學生,只要出席率達到標準都會被授予結業證書,同時還會在全校師生面前發表自己的感言,很多同學講感言時不免都會哽咽,我還一直跟自己說,等到自己畢業時,絕對不能哭。只是,誰知道我除了哽咽之外還淚流滿面了,真的太捨不得學校的同學和老師了。
