  • For over 50 years, students have chosen ELS to achieve their English language goals. With 12 class levels, state-of-the-art language technology centers, multiple testing services and university admission assistance, ELS ensures success through our personalized approach and commitment to student achievement. ELS' rapidly globalizing world presents many challenges; however, those challenges bring with them many opportunities. Being able to communicate effectively in English can help students make the most of these opportunities and enable student to accomplish his dreams. ELS International Pathways provide one with a seamless journey to further education. Students can study English with ELS in 83 different locations in 11 countries. By completing the ELS English for Academic Purposes program, student satisfy the English requirement for more than 650 ELS partner universities worldwide. ELS University Admission Services will guide students from start to finish as he progress toward his chosen university. Students will make new friends from around the world and come to understand their cultures. This will ensure one a successful journey through a rapidly changing, globalizing world.

About the  Grand Valley State University

  • Grand Valley State University is a public liberal arts university located in Allendale, Michigan. The school was established in 1960 and its main campus is situated on 1,270 acres approximately 12 miles west of Grand Rapids. Classes are also offered at the university's growing Pew Campus in Downtown Grand Rapids in Holland. GVSU is a comprehensive coeducational university serving more than 20,000 students as of fall 2012 from all 83 Michigan counties and from other states and foreign countries. It's listed as one of America's 100 largest universities as well as the fifth largest in Michigan in terms of enrollment, and employs more than 2,000 people with over 800 full time faculty and 1,200 supporting staff. GVSU has been noted for its sustainability efforts, ranking as high as 16th in the world for environmental-friendly university management.

Conditional admission

  • Associate, Certificate and Diploma programs accept students with over 109 level in ELS. Undergraduate school issues a CLA to students.

    Description: Students can take a free bus to the ELS Center. Private bedroom in a shared suite-style unit

Surrounding Area

  • ELS/Grand Rapids is located next to the Allendale campus of Grand Valley State University. Grand Rapids, the second largest city in Michigan is 20 minutes away. Allendale is located within 30 minutes of the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan and a little more than two hours from Chicago. West Michigan, iwth its beaches, blueberry patches and four seasons is safe, and the people are welcoming and friendly. The Grand Rapids area is big enough to provide many ways to practice English, and includes many events throughout the year. Art Prize, the Festival of Arts, Griffins Ice Hockey, Whitecaps baseball and many musical concerts are on offer for entertainment. International students are sure to enjoy life while studying at ELS/Grand Rapids.

  • Students from all over the world with different nationality and cultural background have chosen ELS program to study English in a new Environment. Majority of the students come from Asian countries including Japan (30%), Taiwan (25%) and Korea (20%). Some students from Central America (6%), Europe(9%) and Middle eastern countries (4%) have also chose ELS to enrich their English skills.

1年間セミインテンシブ英語プログラムに留学しました。

日本人が比較的少ない環境で勉強したかったので、ここの学校を選びました。
ミシガン州公立大学のグランドバレー州立大学の中にキャンパスがあって学校は広く綺麗でした。
学校施設も語学学校の学生も使えるので大学内の図書館で良く勉強していました。

留学していた1年間は、半年はキャンパス内の学生寮、残り半年はホームステイをしました!
個人的な意見になってしまいますが、学生寮がお薦めです!
ホームステイが決して悪かったというわけではなく、ファミリーの皆もとても親切でいい方達だったんですが、
学校から少し遠く通学が大変でした;;
学生寮はキャンパス内にあるので、大変なことはないですし、なにより、友達がたくさん出来ます!
なので会話の練習にもなるのでとてもいい環境でした!

始めは大学進学を考えずに留学を始めたのですが、途中で大学進学に切り替え、今は無事編入でき、大学に通っています。
