Location

Facilities

  • The school's main campus is located in Hayward, California on a plateau east of the Hayward fault that overlooks the southeast part of the city. CSUEB also has a branch in Concord, California in Contra Costa County, and a professional development center in Oakland. Continuing education programs are available at all three locations.

Activity

  • Studying in the San Francisco Bay Area provides many opportunities outside the classroom and we encourage our students to explore the many beautiful and unique options found only in Northern California. The ALP Office helps arrange activities for students to become a part of our vibrant campus and community. We plan numerous campus activities, events and diverse social gatherings during the year.

    Special Activities for ALP Students
We not only provide shopping trips and Fun trips, we also have a program we call Special Hour during which we showcase the talents and backgrounds of our students, instructors and staff. The idea behind Special Hour is to encourage community camaraderie allowing students to mingle with each other and the whole ALP family. So far, our students have recited their favorite poems, presented their hobbies and demonstrated their singing and dancing abilities. Our instructors have also joined in the fun by contributing their talents and interests, allowing our students to see a different side of them. From our instructors’ presentations, we learned about the Blues, baseball rules, Scrapbooking and interesting facts about other countries.
We also provide news via email known as Weekly Activities which details interesting activities on campus, around town and in San Francisco.
In addition, we arrange soccer matches. Regardless of whether you are soccer professional player or a beginner, we all get together and play.

    Campus Activities
For those who are serious about their workouts, we have a state-of-the-art Recreation And Wellness Center (RAW). ALP students can use the RAW at a special price.
Within CSUEB, We have a very strong Associated Students Incorporated (ASI)/ Student Government which oversees our student needs. They provide the main source of funding for clubs and organizations within CSUEB. We currently have over 90 clubs and organizations all catered to our students' interests.

Getting to the school from the airport

  • Transportation from the Airport
You can take the metro system called ‘BART’ from either SFO or OAK to Hayward (see www.bart.gov/guide/airport), though this may be challenging to manage if you have a lot of luggage. To reach Cal State East Bay from the Hayward BART Station, take Alameda County (AC) Transit Bus #60.

If you would like to be met by someone, you may request an airport pickup (for drop-off at the CSUEB Hayward campus or nearby hotels) by completing the online Airport Pickup Form at:
    www.csueastbay.edu/globalacademy/airport-pickup-form.html
The cost is $287 for this service which up to two students may share.

Additionally, a number of private companies provide door-to-door service from the airports to CSUEB. Some shuttle services offer pre-arranged private shuttles and others are shared-ride vans available on a walk-up basis. It is recommended to arrange for the service in advance, especially if you are arriving late at night. CSUEB is not affiliated with nor do we endorse the companies below. It is your responsibility to contact and pay the companies directly:

    ● Super Shuttle: www.supershuttle.com (serving SFO, SJC, and OAK)

Transportation Network Companies such as Uber, Lyft and Wingz serve all three airports. Passengers arrange service online, typically using a smartphone app. If you plan to use one of these apps, we advise you to download the app in your home country.
