Course Information

  • Curriculum :
    ESL Level 1
    Level 1 primarily focuses on survival English skills.  The secondary focus is English for personal and daily use.  Students will use English in order to communicate in various relevant, real-world contexts.  Students will learn to use basic grammar structures for speaking and writing tasks, and begin to demonstrate knowledge of American social conventions.  This course is designed to improve students’ vocabulary, as well as reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

    ESL Level 2
    Level 2 will focus on survival English, but more emphasis is placed on personal and daily English use. Students will use English in order to communicate in various relevant, real-world contexts.  Students will be able to use basic grammar structures for speaking and writing tasks, and demonstrate knowledge of American social conventions.  This course is designed to improve students’ vocabulary, as well as reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

    ESL Level 3
    Level 3 focuses primarily on English for personal and daily use.  The secondary focus is on English for academic use.  Students will use English in order to communicate in various relevant, real-world contexts.  Students will be able to use more advanced grammar structures for speaking and writing tasks, demonstrate knowledge of American social conventions, and begin to critically examine and express opinions about each weekly topic.

    ESL Level 4
    Level 4 focuses primarily on English for personal and daily use.  The secondary focus is on English for academic use.  Students will be able to use English skills in order to engage in real life and contemporary issues. Through the use of dialogues, presentations, and role playing, students will be able to verbally articulate themselves using correct American English. Students will learn to use more advanced grammar structures for speaking and writing tasks, demonstrate knowledge of American social conventions, and critically examine and express opinions about each weekly topic.

    ESL Level 5
    Level 5 primarily focuses on academic English. Students will be able to use English in order to discuss their knowledge on debatable issues that will require them to think critically. Students will be able to apply previous knowledge and experiences in order to discuss and write about weekly topics.  Moreover, they will identify a range of culturally based American values and perspectives through the texts.  By the end of this course, students will be able to write essays about the issues using an introduction, body and conclusion. They will be able to apply new language skills introduced throughout the course into their oral language and essay writing. Students will be expected to apply cognitive academic language skills into their speaking and writing.

    ESL Level 6
    Level 6 focuses primarily on English for academic use.  The secondary focus is on English for business purposes. Students will be able to read and respond to college level academic texts.  They will be faced with varied styles of writing which will provide them with the opportunity to learn how to write beginner college level essays.  Students will be able to synthesize information from academic texts as well as establish their own point of view on the matters at hand. Students will be expected to argue their opinion during in-class discussions and debates and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the content. They will read, evaluate, synthesize and respond to a number of texts presented throughout the course. Moreover, students will be able to create a resume and cover letter using standard American English. They will be expected to apply business language into their communication skills.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    The TOEFL Prep course is designed to help students succeed in taking the examination by utilizing conscious application of test-taking strategies. Additionally, students will improve their general command over the English language and express sophistication in their language skills. Finally, students will be exposed to high-level academic English, which will prepare them further to perform well in American college and university settings. The course will cover the following components: vocabulary, reading, listening, speaking and writing skills.

  • Finding a place to live in NYC can sometimes be difficult on your own. That's why Bluedata offers optional housing assistance to its international students. These housing options range from local home stays to private apartments, depending on the student's budget and personal preference. Students may speak to their agent regarding further information on housing options in NYC.

    Home Stay
    Living with an American host family is a great way not only to improve your English, but also to learn and experience the culture. Upon a student's request, Bluedata is able to introduce host families to students that they can live with during their time of study in the US. Price range is $800 to $1,000 per month with meals provided.
     
    Apartment
    Finding the right apartment in New York is one of the most important things to accomplish and may not be so easy. Therefore, upon student's request, Bluedata is able to introduce apartments with reasonable rents in Manhattan and other boroughs (Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island). Price is anywhere between $600 (shared) and $1,500.

Surrounding Area

  • While attending Bluedata, all students have access to many fun, educational, social, and recreational activities.
     
    Throughout the course of study, teachers take students on cultural outing/field trips in New York City, ranging from museum visits to outdoor activities, cultural parades, and free concerts. Each month, our staff will also provide a social calendar for students with a wide of events going around New York.
     
    Be sure to stay around for the school parties during holidays-they are fun and a great chance for students to mingle and have an enjoyable time.

  • You can easily reach our school by subway, train or bus.
    Bluedata is conveniently located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan on 32nd St. and Broadway, near Herald Square. The school is accessible by the NQRBDFM trains, and is in walking distance from Penn Station. Penn Station is the gateway for NJ Transit and Long Island Railroad, and also provides access to the 1, 2, and 3 subways.

Q. 일반 영어 프로그램 수준이 어느정도인지 궁금합니다.
영어 잘 읽지도 못하고 말은 당연히 못하구요
듣는것도 어려워하는데 이런 사람이 가도 괜찮을까요?

A. 일반 영어 프로그램은 영어에 대해서 아무것도 모르고 잘 하지 못하는 초급 분들을 위한 수업입니다.
미국 현지에서 하는 어학연수는 어느 정도 수준이 있다고 생각하시는 분들이 많은데
이 수업은 영어 초급자를 위한 수업으로 누구든 쉽게 따라오실 수 있습니다.

A、はい。なんといってもまず、
・交通の便が良い!
日本人スタッフ駐在!
学費が格安!

これははずせません。
そして、生徒の国籍が、比較的多国籍なのも特徴です。
スタッフもいろんな国のスタッフがいるので、いろんな英語が聞けて面白いと思います。
日本人スタッフももちろんいます。
たとえばビザのことなど、英語で説明を受けるのは難しい場合などに、日本人スタッフが日本語で説明してくれるので、
その点は安心です。

저는 19살 고등학생입니다.

공부에 별로 흥미도 없고 딱히 대학을 간 필요성도 못느껴서 고등학교를 다니다가 자퇴했습니다.
그러던중에 집에서 미국으로 공부하러갈 겸 여행도 해 보라고 하셔서
무작정 미국으로 어학연수를 왔습니다

할줄 아는 영어도 없고 아무것도 몰라서 처음엔 상당히 막막했습니다.
제가 들은 수업은 저 처럼 아무 기초도 없고 잘 하지 못하는 학생들을 위한 수업이었습니다.
어느 정도 수업을 계속 듣고 미국에서 지내다보니 조금씩 다른 사람들이 하는 말도 알아듣고 영어 하는게 재밌었습니다.
다들 영어를 못하는 학생들이 모여서 저희끼리도 서로 의사소통 하는데에 힘들었지만
이것 자체로도 재밌었습니다.
주말에는 근교로 여행도 자주 다녀왔네요. 좋았던 경험이었습니다.

ずっとニューヨークに留学することが夢で、今回短期ではありましたが、ようやくそれをかなえることが出来ました。


学費の面からこちらの学校を選ばせていただいたのですが、
安いのにも関わらず、授業の面でも事務的な面でもとてもクオリティが高くて驚きました。

日本人スタッフの方がいらっしゃるので、英語で説明を聞くのが難しい内容でも日本語で相談できるので、
その点はとても安心でした。

ただやはり生活費はかかります。
アメリカでは基本的に外食はとても高くつくので、宿泊は一日2食提供してもらえるホームステイをえらびました。
とても良くしてくれるホストで、食事はやはりザ・アメリカという感じで太りましたが(笑)、素敵な家庭に出会えて本当に良かったです。
私はまだ生活費を抑えられていた方だと思いますが、アパートで一人暮らしの友達なんかは本当に毎月結構な額がかかっていたと思います。

たった3ヶ月の留学生活でしたが、本当に毎日充実していて多くのものを得たと思います。
一度も日本に帰りたいと思ったことはありませんでした。
またいつか必ず、ニューヨークに来たいと思います。
